Dear Colleagues
Please see the attached.
It is absolutely vital that any agreement is supported by all as covering off the key areas in dispute. Without this, it is the view of the SWSW Division that we could not recommend any deal.
We cannot end up again with something that does not do justice to the needs of CWU members and of course, those who have already taken and are taking, strike action locally.
Finally, you will see the motion in relation to Chris Webb SWSW CWU Divisional Rep. He is currently facing trumped up charges from Royal Mail following an incident on a picket line in Plymouth.
Royal Mail will be made aware that this Division and THIS branch will support strike action to defend him should RM dismiss him. Attacks on reps, where ever they are, must be resisted. RM are an aggressive employer and they thrive on weakness.

RE: South Wales / South West Divisional Policy
Dear Dave
Following a South Wales / South West Divisional committee meeting Yesterday the following motions were carried unanimously.
MOTION TO SW/SW DIVISIONAL COMMITTEE
The South Wales / South West Divisional Committee agrees that any final agreement as a result of the current dispute must contain as a minimum commitments on
A RE-ENGAGEMENT FRAMEWORK FOR UNITS WHERE EXECUTIVE ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN
A STATEMENT PROTECTING ALL CWU REPS / MEMBERS INVOLVED IN ISSUES SURROUNDING DISPUTE / PICKET LINES (agreement as a whole should not progress until these cases have been settled)
PAY, REWARD AND MODERNISATION
SHORTER WORKING WEEK
WORK RATES
PENSIONS
JOB SECURITY
FUTURE DELIVERY / MAIL CENTRE / NETWORK MODELS
The Divisional Representatives are instructed to put this position in writing to the DGS (P) and all National Officers immediately.
We feel that the campaign and the YES vote we will achieve have been based on promoting a settlement on the above issues to our members. The committee felt it was appropriate to remind our negotiators that a lot of eyes are on this agreement. If we do not achieve a successful settlement from this dispute then this union will cause more damage to itself than Royal Mail could ever do.
The 2nd motion passed was as follows
"This Divisional Meeting agrees that co-ordinated industrial action, up to and including a full South West/South Wales Divisional Strike ballot, shall be the agreed policy should Royal Mail dismiss our Div/Rep Chris Webb due to his ongoing conduct case.”
This motion was also carried unanimously. I would like to place on record my thanks to CWU HQ for their support thus far and particularly Bob Gibson. My fact finding has been conducted and I am now awaiting the decision on whether or not I will be charged.
I will keep in regular contact with the DGS (P) department and Bob Gibson as the case develops. We will be making Royal Mail aware of the SW/SW Divisions position via Andy Nash writing to the relevant IR/HR Regional Directors that we interface with.
Regards
