Right, Thinking Hats On Everyone!!!!!!
Don`t know how long it will be before people who wish to strike will no longer be able to afford it? Don`t wish to debate the
`principle` of this, but do wish to collect/add a list of ` currently non specified` items to a Page 2 ( not page 3) to our 318`s for use in all delivery Offices.
For example:
Page 2. 318
* Whilst on your Delivery, you should make sure you remain `stationary` between delivering one set of mail and the next. ie. You should not `sort next house/firm` while you are on the move. (hope that makes sense?)
This `discipline` in itself can add about 20/30 min`s to a walk delivery? or it did when I tried it. And fully complies with Royal Mail H&S issues. So its correct business practice! Now if every single `Postie`in the Country adds 20/30 minutes to their current delivery time, thats as I see it, a legitimate (WTR- OR PUT ANOTHER WAY, sorry Boss but I can not complete today, as I have to confess that it the past, I have not always been sure I have payed enough attention to H&S, I`m sure you wish me to do the job properly?
Get the idea? now if between us we can add items to this `List`on an ongoing basis, by the end of this week, the Unit Rep can on `next`s weeks resourcing meeting` say to the DOM, from now Boss this is how `we` are going to work. Stuff Pegasus! this will add hours to a walk?
* Just thought of another, No Short Cuts (over/around paths or obstacle/s)
****************************************************************************
Current list now up to 2.

OK anyone got anything to add to the list?? Go ahead pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
If we can get about 10/20 items to this list, we wont need `strikes` the job just won`t get done in the current hours we have!!!!!!. ( The DOM`S will be off with stress, if we can get the Union to issue this `List`,? and Big Al & Adam could not go to the Press and say whats this, because they would have to ADMIT THAT the job was now being done properly, whereas before THEY had encouraged the work force to break the `rules`ie Job and Finish.) The main problem I see is `some clowns` will still want to make hours/time? but this culture has to CHANGE, if we are paid 8 hour`s we will have to work 8 hours. Cheaper than losing £50/60 a day?

I work at MDEC so am obviously not up on what you can do BUT to me it sounds a really great idea.
I do agree that the people that stayed away on friday may be less inclined to repeat it financially next time and so anyhting that can have an impact on Management whilst working within the guidelines of the Business can only be seen as good from our point of view.
GREAT IDEA MATE.
GOOD LUCK TO US ALL

It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

i love mail sort wrote:if i followed them rules it would take 5 hours to do a walk :)
Yes it could, thats the point. If it takes this long to do the job properly, and we have a 3.5 hr walk maximum, the company have a problem? We would either need shorter walks or more people to do them? Come on people add to the list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could work both ways but
I've had a manager complain because I couldn't sort at a rate of 25 letters/minute on full RM2000 frame.
I've seen people who only manage a rate of 10 letters/minute on an empty frame (even when they know the frame well)
Some poeple need to speed up but managers need to obtain some common sense and accept that the impossible is just not possible.
How we get common sense into managers I don't know

Hi Tasam, 25 letters a min into your walk frame is that? or a inward sorting frame? if a walk frame u shud be tested on a walk frame that you know well.. if i was on a different walk i wud be lucky to get 5 a min!!! the inward sorting frames, the amount they expect you to sort cannot be kept up for hours at a time, we are not robots!!! that is what the want us to be!! i can see them bringing in a device to keep a track on how fast we are walking when out... time will tell. Dont let em hassel you, see your cwu rep.tasam wrote:madelin4 wrote:Just thinking , if wee raise points on this they might start checking or sorting times, i.e. inward sorting that wee shud be sorting 18 items a min or whatever it is!! if we are unable to achieve any set sorting rates, whether that's inward prep or walk frames, it's the screws responibility to ask why, offer help, arrange training, and interview before even considering the conduct code. This practice if done correctly takes weeks, and if not done correctly the union will throw out any conduct code case. As usual Madelin, the rules are there to protect us, as long as we're not taking the piss they can't touch us.madelin4 wrote:Just thinking , if wee raise points on this they might start checking or sorting times, i.e. inward sorting that wee shud be sorting 18 items a min or whatever it is!! write the specials track no. by hand on any p739 as the callers office will need the sticker
safe drops have to be under lock and key only held by RM, otherwise it's hand-to-hand
don't drop elastic bands, place them in the front pocket of the pouch
stick to speed limits
don't park on the path, find a safe spot nearby and walk back
put all letters thru boxes on inside doors where porches are unlocked
never doorstep items allways leave p739

guilty
i'm as guilty as anyone else for cutting corners but i have to do another job.
with this later starting all the time it's hard for me to cope.
I'm no angel but from now on I will set example by doing the job as it should be done.
If screws have a problem i'll grievance them.
