Do you rem this guy.
A POSTMAN suspended by the Royal Mail for not wanting to deliver junk mail to customers has left his job with a pay-off.
Barry postman Roger Annies was suspended after he delivered a form to residents on his Gibbonsdown round informing them how to opt out of receiving door-to-door items.
Thousands of people nationwide opted out of the service that provides a valuable source of income to the Royal Mail.
Roger, 46, of Churchfields, said: "Royal Mail has decided against my will really in the first place to retire me on ill health, because I was off for more than nine months on the basis of depression and anxiety.
"They offered me early health retirement with a lump sum according to how many years I served them and from their point of view that's it."
He continued: "I can appeal against it but, with the family and professional and medical advice I have had, I am drawing a line under this.
"I will carry on finding another job in a field that is more in my interests and more in my heart than trying to go back to Royal Mail."
Roger said he decided not to pursue matters further because he would face the same people who have made previous decisions.
He added: "I was considering going through the Employment Tribunal process, but is it worth it in the end?"
A Royal Mail spokesman, said: "We respect Mr Annies' right to privacy and confidentiality in this matter and we have no comment to make on the statement he has made to the newspaper."

Sad to say that is it, imho, after all what better way to do it then dump him in a job in the DO, give him all the s**t jobs, have screws constanly watching, making the odd jibe or three & smirk behind their sleeves when he hands in his notice on health grounds.norbet colon wrote:I'm sure they would have got rid of him first time round, only for the papers, old trick grind him down won't give them any more problemsDirtyHarry wrote:I'm off to check the date , I'm sure this isn't 1907 and that we're in the 21st century , but with Royal Mail who knows ?![]()

He was "exiled" to a Mail Centre, seen as a loose cannon, they'd get rid of him one way or another. The interesting points he was threatened with dire consequences if he talked to the press, shafting & a half for the Post Office, couldn't happen to nicer people?!, RM had no comment about him not taking them to a Tribunal. If it was up to RM, they'd have had him swinging from a lampost. :lfosmokerjim wrote:Sad to say that is it, imho, after all what better way to do it then dump him in a job in the DO, give him all the s**t jobs, have screws constanly watching, making the odd jibe or three & smirk behind their sleeves when he hands in his notice on health grounds.norbet colon wrote:I'm sure they would have got rid of him first time round, only for the papers, old trick grind him down won't give them any more problemsDirtyHarry wrote:I'm off to check the date , I'm sure this isn't 1907 and that we're in the 21st century , but with Royal Mail who knows ?![]()

5 & 1-2 hour disciplinary meeting ! ?
That says everything about the culture of fear & the regimented style of management.
We had a 8hr meeting on the railway over a incident which was pathetic , people were frightened of thier own shadows turning into old women.Leighton may be a idiot but he knows how to pull people's strings.
