Starting 25 hour contract and part time job Monday

Post by realitybites »

Starting Monday I will be on a 25 hour contract. Received my letter of confirmation but no revised contract. Others are doing 5 hours a day so assume it will be the same. Have a part time job which I start at 2.30. Have read a lot of posts on how the 25 hour contract breaks down and was looking for a bit of clarification,

30 minutes bagging up
15 mins travelling time to walk
30 minute break
3hrs 30 for walk
15 mins pouching off

I read somewhere that you don't throw off the D2D's either, if anyone can confirm. My other job is time critical so it looks like I will have to cut off for the first time. I was wondering about the way you do this, do you ring half hour before you are due to finish and let them know how much you have left. I am assuming I will have to cut off as I cannot see myself going into work to a fully prepared frame just to bag up and ship out

ala D2D - 20% should already be thrown in when you arrive so take that into consideration when contemplating cutting off.

Will do
On a slightly different matter, can anyone tell me if we are obligated to work O/T during the Christmas pressure period, had a search but haven't found a conclusive answer
Thanks

O/T, even during Christmas Pressure is voluntary. I think you may be referring to a 'spanish practice' that RM have so kindly revoked.

Well you may not thank me but your break time is 20 minutes not 30 mins on a 5 hour contract - I'm sure there is a breakdown on here somewhere.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You know that pisses me off not knowing where you stand regarding D2D's. Iv'e never had mine thrown in. It would make my life so much easier if someone else done it for me. I just don't have the time for much else.

My contract states "...it is a condition of your employment that you are liable to work overtime...as the needs of the service demand." :hmmmm

I don't know a single postie that throws in D2D's for the PT walk. There's nowhere near enough time anyway, we're lucky if we can get the letters in before we're called back on IPS.
