They have no answer to out targeted strikes
Dispite its failing , the CWU has YOUR best interests at its core
WE CAN and WILL win this fight, WE are many, they are few
VOTE YES and prepair yourselfs for STIKE acion
Its not about today or tomorrow...we've all got 10,20,30 or 40 more years to go!
Chairmen / directors come and go, BUT we're in it for the LONG TERM
So it IS worth fighting, striking and losing wages for OUR FUTURE
If we fail now, then our ASS is grass and Adam has a lawnmower

Re: We CAN win!
I sometimes see a little stupidity from some posts on here, but
YE GODS!
this one has lots !!!
Some might be pretending that the internet doesn't exist, that no-one ever chooses to receive their bills, bank / credit card statements by email, thus reducing the amount of mail sent to those households ...BUT IT IS A FACT !
Yes, it IS costing RM dear to ship mail / managers all around the country, but that cost is paid for by the HUGE amounts of money saved when not paying wages to postmen out on strike. RM have shown no sign of even a slight reversal of changes imposed by Executive Action, despite targeted strikes. Even if they do end up shaking hands with the CWU in an agreement that reverses 50% of the EA changes, they still would have succeeded in bringing in vast swathes of change without union agreement or consultation.
Despite its failings, the CWU's Billy Hayes still has HIS political ambitions to fall back on.
It doesn't matter to him if we WIN or LOSE this fight, he's got a safe Labour seat lined up and an MP's salary (plus expenses, of course) waiting for him next May. Will WE still have a job to go to ?
VOTE YES and prepare yourselves for a strike that hits RM hard, causing them to lose customers, make less profit, and thus make redundant much sooner those individuals who would otherwise have had 10,20,30 or 40 more years to go! Its already hit me hard and the bank is chasing me for mortgage arrears.
The Alan Johnsons of this union come and then go higher and higher up a Labour Party that wants to part-privatise us, and which the CWU STILL GIVE MONEY TO !!!! They leave behind them really crap agreements like The Way Forward and the 2007 Pay & Modernisation agreement, which has already reduced our LONG TERM pension benefits
So with all this fighting, striking, and losing wages we are suicidally on a course that will mean OUR FUTURES (not Billy Hayes or Dave Ward's) will be put at risk
It's insulting to tell members of the public like Keefy (see http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... =2&t=19173" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) "We are striking for our futures and the chance you have of having a decent postal service"
If we fail to get a grip on reality and realise most of the public never send letters any more, don't care if their junk mail doesn't get delivered, and mostly think we should be grateful to have a job, we will ALL have plenty of time to use the lawnmower when we're on the dole all day
Don't be a sheep, use your common sense and VOTE NO

Re: We CAN win!
In general I don't think RM care about strikes, however there does seem to be a genuine loss of customers which RM do care about.
So what if people get their Amazon parcel a few days late (a shame but the public knows there are problems and should plan around it) but if Amazon give their business to City Link then RM lose money and the bosses lose their bonuses and any privatisation plans get put on the back burner and they can't just sit on their arses and count cash all day.
My point is that this ballot appears to be different to the last strikes and I honestly believe that any harm to employees and the business is less than if RM plans go ahead. RM don't want happy customers and a modernised service, they want profit!

Re: We CAN win!
If people think that volumes are down and nobody sends letters anymore I suggest they google "roy mayall" and read a real live postmans blog!
EXTRACT ------
The truth is that the figures aren’t down at all. We have proof of this. The Royal Mail have been fiddling the figures. This is how it is being done.
Mail is delivered to the offices in grey boxes. These are a standard size, big enough to carry a few hundred letters. The mail is sorted from these boxes, put into pigeon-holes representing the separate walks, and from there carried over to the frames. This is what is called ‘internal sorting’ and it is the job of the full-timers, who come into work early to do it. In the past, the volume of mail was estimated by weighing the boxes. These days it is done by averages. There is an estimate for the number of letters that each box contains, decided on by national agreement between the management and the union. That number is 208. This is how the volume of mail passing through each office is worked out: 208 letters per box times the number of boxes. However, within the last year Royal Mail has arbitrarily, and without consultation, reduced the estimate for the number of letters in each box. It was 208: now they say it is 150. This arbitrary reduction more than accounts for the 10 per cent reduction that the Royal Mail claims is happening nationwide.
Doubting the accuracy of these numbers, the union ordered a random manual count to be undertaken over a two-week period in a number of offices across the region. Our office was one of them. On average, those boxes which the Royal Mail claims contain only 150 letters, actually carry 267 items of mail. This, then, explains how the Royal Mail can say that the figures are down, although every postman knows that volume is up. The figures are down all right, but only because they have been manipulated.

Re: We CAN win!
When the disputes started Royal Mail were not even prepared to speak to the union on phase 4 now talks are not only taking place on a weekly basis about the future but also about reaching agreement ( Royal Mail "s words not mine ) where they have taken executive action. In fact todays meeting in Windsor was mainly on this. Hardly a signal the strikes have not worked.
Royal Mail believed that the union would punch itself out in July and August but we are now almost in October and in London we have now taken 14 days strike action and the backlog is everywhere. Yes you are correct that Royal Mail are saving wages of striking postal workers and are paying managers , casuals and self empoyed staff to attempt to clear the back log but at what price because they have lost the trust and confidence of the workforce for a generation. No orgainsiation can be successful in the long time without the trust of the workforce.
Royal Mail have backed off in several areas on executive action. In addition the vast majority of the revisons have been so poorly planned that it makes the whole ethics of quality of sevice laughable.
In addition Royal Mail must be very proud that they have carried out some of the worst bullying and harrassment ever witnessed by any major company. The union have suggusted an indepedent company such as Acas be allowed to carry out a formal review into the alledged bullying and harrassment. Once again Royal Mail have refused point blank this proposal. Clearly they have something to hide.
Now you mention Billy and Alan Johnson and their links to the labour party and yes Allan left after the employee agenda dispute to be an mp but the difference between them two and Royal Mail managers is that we actually ellect them and they are accountable. Unlike Adam Crozier , Mark Higson and others who are faceless indivduals who are scared to get invovled in the talks and are hiding away. Crozier refused an invite to have an open debate with the CWU on TV because he hates to be exposed as at fault for things.
Plus you seem to fail to realise what this dispute is about , it is about whether we have a future free from fear of complusory redundancies , transfers , the ablity to have full time jobs with good terms and conditions , an enviorment free from bullying because Royal Mail have set targets and savings which are unworkable. Plus an agreement on the future of deliveires , mail centres and network.
We will win becuause you know that the pressure is now on the government and the hawks in Royal Mail management know the tide has turned this is why they have flooded managers and causals into London today to attempt to clear the backlog and to implent further changes by executive action the promblem is that we have further strike action planned for the next two weeks and of course the National Ballot result is next thursday.
The reason why we will win is that we want a future, in Royal Mail whereas the likes of Crozier , Higson and the rest know that they can look outside this industry for employment.
The real disgrace is that Crozier who is milking 3 million out of this industry per year is to affaid to go and negoaite with this union to resolve the dispute.

Re: We CAN win!
I'll tell you why I think we will win, the 2007 dispute was forced on RM by the CWU, this dispute has been forced on the CWU by us, the membership. How many months passed before the individual offices in London, Scotland and elsewhere finally got permission to ballot the members, how long after that until HQ relented and authorised a National Ballot? I may be wrong but that is my perception.
