Re: Call This Modernisation?
I hope, whoever filmed that doesn't get into too much trouble. A while ago, my H&S Rep was caught filming the aftermath of a Near Miss for evidence, because he couldn't get all the damage in one photo. And he was told to delete the video, there and then. Or face a disciplinary. A Manager stood watching him delete it, on the Shop Floor (well, Bays to be exact). Still photos are fine, but video (at least where I am) can land you in serious trouble. The guy on YouTube, would have been better hiding, until the Manager had left. Then they wouldn't have known who filmed it.
Still. He's done a good thing, bringing this to the Public's attention. I just hope that enough people, start asking the right questions.

Re: Call This Modernisation?
I would of not deleted it.
and then seen what the manager did.
id obviously send the video off sharpish to higher powers above and wait for my imminent sacking and then claim for unlimited damages for whistle blowing.
dont think royal mail would be too happy then

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Legal protection for whistleblowing varies from country to country.[8] In the United Kingdom, the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 provides a framework of legal protection for individuals who disclose information so as to expose malpractice and matters of similar concern. In the vernacular, it protects whistleblowers from victimisation and dismissal.

Regarding whistleblowing and video recording, this example from earlier this year involving Nurse Margaret Haywood is a case in point.

Re: Call This Modernisation?
Using taxis was quite common at one time, the bad practice was not using the taxi to drop the postman off, but using the taxi driver to drop the bags off as well - so here we had a taxi driver knowing where the unsafe "safe" drops were. Hasn't happened for some years now but it was a shocking state of affairs.WarDog wrote:Rite i need info asap on whether this is illegal or not as this has been going on in our office for some time . Seen as none of us no whether this is the correct working practise nothink has ever been said. Also in our place if theres no van driver to convey you to your beat they order you a taxi and take the money out the petty cash. There was one occasion were two posties jumped into a black cab and loaded it up with bags .

Re: Call This Modernisation?
Well done to the guy filming this evidences, but looking at it, I wouldn't be surprise if he isn't the only one doing this at that office, especially as he is so cooly loading his car up on the dock,in front of the managers, doesn't seem too bother to me, even when he realise he was being film, he just laugh it off
