Weve had some unrest at our office recently, resulting in unofficial ind action.
On returning, weve had the usual s**t on our frames, no unofficial breaks, no fags, no this, sort that, dble prep this- etc, and this one,all pick ups to stop from 6th oct!
Even tho we are in an industrial estate, and are 6 15 starts, people without cars cannot get to work on time.
Saturdays are worse, were a 5 30 start!
How the fook are you supposed to get to work on a saturday at 5am , if you live 5 miles away?

Even those who were on holiday or on the sick at the time of this action are penalised by the no lifts sanction. :arrrghhh

Pissin me right aff it is.
We originally wanted a 5 am start on sat, the boss wanted 6, so wee caved in to 5 30 - now we should cancel this and tell em we are starting at 5 on a sat am.

Sooner this ballot is declared and the drums of war are sounded, the better.

I take it that you mean no pick ups by RM vans. I pick a guy up everyday in my car, they can't stop me doing that.

They stopped the vans picking us up before work a couple of years ago. I get a lift in with a colleague but he's just gone onto 5 on 1 off rotation. Luckily there is a bus at 5.25 Mon-Fri that gets me into work just before 6, Saturdays I have to walk in just over 3 miles which scares the crap out of me as its dark and a lot of places where people can lurk :nervous
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Why do you expect a lift into work? If you can't drive or get a lift try the bike to work scheme.

Stop hiding in dark corners then

I've personally never heard of being picked up by RM for work, I think a lot of bikes will need to be used in the future (and just think of the benefits of cycling to work.....................you run the risk of being run over and saving RM and their pension fund a whole pile of money :nervous ).

Depends where the office is read the original post again."we are in an industrial estate" This is now common place especially with new and improved super DO's where offices are put together.

At my interview one of the first questions was 'you will be starting pretty early, how will you get to work?'. Got a car I replied. Worked shifts all my working life, getting in won't be a problem...'Jobs yours son...'

Never heard of anyone getting brought in by RM van.

When our office was in the town centre we had a mini bus picking up posties but then we moved to a shithole and the first thing Royal Fail did was get rid of 5 van duties so everybody started coming in by car...now most of the office where using their own cars to go out as well onto delivery despite the rep telling them to not use their cars.

The good news is our office has now gone pretty militant and started doing the job right (AT LAST!)and cars are left at home or on the car park,Royal Fail are at breaking point as I even saw the No2 out delivering some lapsing :left: last week and he never usually moves out of the office! SHAME.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!

I was picked up for work for 12 years then they stopped doing it about 4 month ago  they said the van would only pick up at certain points and the nearest one to me was further away than the office .So now i ride a bike to work .Come winter i will use the car leave it in the car park and they can take me to my walk and bring me back to the office everyday :cuppa

No, we both live about a mile from the DO..I usually see him on the way, and stop for him, that's all.
