Hitleresque rant at us this morning for WTL

Post by mandelsons_toenail »

We were gathered round and told that " This is the job, We dont like peoples attitudes, a we dont give a s**t attitude" " if you dont like it leave " " Lapsing is here to stay , you will do a full days work, you know what time you start, you know what time you finish"

That was it.

Whole office was in shock

RM may have just made a few more strike, lovely :dance

Our manager said:

'I know you all work damn hard, so why are you going to go on strike to support people who aren't doing what you are?'

I don't think it's going to persuade people to vote 'no' though - the really strange thing about it is that my office works well, never any cut offs etc, mail is cleared every day, walks are ok - i've asked workmates if they know what the strike ballot is for and they've said 'no', but they're still voting 'yes' anyway.

The CWU is lucky it has so many members who are loyally (and blindly) following regardless of the fact they don't even know what's going on - I just hope these members don't get let down by a shoddy 'deal' yet again.

Maybe because they like it as it is but can see what is coming if RM are allowed to do what they want. Our office was exactly like that until a few months ago when they wanted more and more lapsing.

But what i'm saying is they have no idea what's happening in other offices, because i've asked them. They have no idea why other offices are going on strike or why they aren't collapsing/banking hours/Georoute as we have done. They're faithfully following the CWU, so I hope they're not let down again by a poor agreement (when one is reached)

Fair point, perhaps they are not fully aware of the whole situation but they know how they FEEL about the way the job is going and they know they dont feel happy with the job anymore. Once you feel like that you want to kick back and striking gives that chance.

Last week, our DOM was going around the office telling people to vote 'No' and reading some crap form a prepared script. Don't these vermin realise their attitude is the reason many of us are voting 'Yes'?

One of our lads recently retired, they never replaced him. 4 weeks ago they just did away with a round, reworked them so they were all bigger. The day the change took place the manager was there, told us he would be in over the next few days to iron over any problems. ;liar Weve since all been gettin out of the office around 10:30 even 11 and finishin at 4-5. Never saw him again till today!! Couldnt be arsed with any of our problems, instead brought a tv and dvd in and made us watch a bullying and harrassment film :mad What the f**k! They need to get with reallity and sort out the problems theyre causing themselves :arrrghhh

Talk about blind, weve not seen a union rep for about 3 years  , we never usually know what the strikes are about, its just this time the stuff thats happening in other offices is startin to happen in our office as well so weve got a bit more of a clue this time. :hmmmm

Wouldnt even know where to start. Dont really have the time, other committmants. We are an office of 14, of them about 4 or 5 are in the union. Some came out fed up, some were never in. Not much power in our office.

Utter bollocks to suggest that as an office or unit we never really know what the strikes are about, don't you lot (CWU members) not receive personal communication letters from union HQ on just exactly what the dispute is all about. And it beggars belief that CWU members who are computer literate do not read the LTB's from the CWU website.

As a small office we often arnt confronted with the problems the other offices have. So wel have no knowledge of these problems and what they mean. When strikes loom as in the last strike we started gettin regular visits from the managers spinning there propaganda bullshit but noone from the union ever turned up to explain to us in black and white what was goin on and why. I recently emailed that billy hayes on his blog on the cwu website. Informing him of our problems of not knowing whats goin on, he replied asking me what office we were. Then he said he was passing my email onto the branch secretary, he would get in touch personally. Still waiting over 2 months later for this to happen.

And why have YOU left it for TWO MONTHS? You are the Union and if you aint happy do something about it!
After seein the last rep come down, we told him our problems he wrote them down, said hed look into them, never saw him again. Lot of us thought what a waste of time, some left the union. Like I said were a small office not a lot of power, were worried to be seen rockin the boat, with all the sackings thats goin on in the other offices it wouldnt take much to be able to get rid of one of us without much fuss from anyone else. We get walked all over but were worried really that if were seen causing trouble for RM wel be targeted to be f****d off. We support the strikes though and strike when we need too.

And bullying staff is modernisation it really does work while other staff :cfo don't turn up or only cut off because i have other commitments don't know what that means (SPANNISH PRACTICES FOR THE CEO OF ROYALMAIL :cfo )! While hard working posties are subjected too the full rigours of the weather and interrogation upon return to the office it is no wonder we are all pissed off!.
