sorry but I can't be so polite . . . . . . . . . if you did then you're making a mockery of the strike action, what's the point of going out for one day and losing a days pay then coming in the next day and doing more than you should for nothing. Royal Mail will be laughing all the way to the bank with people that now use their cars, start early, don't take their breaks and generally don't do the job by the 318.

Support for this action must be for more than just one day a week, it needs to be constant to have a decent effect.

well, postman, i used my car to take me to my 1st delivery point, then i move it twice then it takes me back to office.. i normally take the mail for the other 2 drop boxes it helps out the man who takes my bags so didnt really mind, i wud have got him just to take 1 of the 3 bags for me,, but i think i mite just use all the drop boxes from here on in and not leave any mail in the car.. what do u think? just use the car to get me there as the road i drive is real busy at 8.30-9am, i dont even have a bike of my own in work anyhow!"! i have asked for one but none as yet..

despite a 100% scab free event yesterday there were still people (rats) who came in early and used their cars!!!! most of them were out for 7am as there was no missort run! shame really as it spoilt an otherwise great day yesterday! one of our old bosses from years ago used to say "only postmen s**t on postmen!" a very true saying. regards dongash opg macclesfield sk (100% scab free zone)

I had a very eventful day today

to start with I went in at my time 6:30 in Falkirk DO and told I was on this duty and I started prepping it.
Around about 7:00 I inform the manager that I wouldn't be able to complete my duty.

the manager then informs me that I am being sent to another office as they are short staffed then he disappears.
I continue prepping the duty

At 7:25 the manager comes back and starts going mental that I haven't went to the other office.
So I inform him that I was waiting for him to get me a van and that I didnt want to stop working and look for a van just in case I got told I was lazing about and that it would be taken off my meal allowance. I also informed him that my car is low on fuel and I had no cash on me

So the manager gets me a lift to the other office - Deeny office

I arrived at Denny office around 8 am and it was a total shambles I was put on a duty that probably had about 3 bundles mail prepped and there were about 17 bundles and flats and packets to be put in.

I informaed the denny manager that i was finishing on time and she told me to stream the mailsort, which I did.
I was all prepped with 4 trays of mailsort left for 9 am
so I had 2 hours left to work as I had to be back to my office for finishing time of 1120
So I told the manager I was only taking three rows,, which she wasn't happy about but what could she do!!!

So I had a gr8 day and went out and delivered 9 bundles of 1st and 2nd class mail to about 350 houses and was back to my car for 1125 in Falkirk
Don't think I'm on the managers good duty list any more

who cares 1220 finish on monday

MADELIN4 just as you were getting the hang of it you've slipped back to your old ways. . . . . . . there is NO acceptable use of private vehicles, if Royal Mail can't provide you with the proper equiptment to do the job then you can't do it. Tell your screws that you longer wish to use your car, pay out for your own petrol and risk your own property, and that they must provide you with a way of getting out to your delivery and back again. Right now the business is sh**ing all over us and forcing us to strike and therefore lose money so why give them anything for nothing.

Be strong, stand up for yourself and remember we're all only here to earn money so why work for nowt.

i know what u mean billypants and i totally agree, i think i have got set in my ways to be honest , it means i can take my time a wee bit as i know a lot of my customers etc and i keep drinks and spare coats and hats etc in my car... i am going to say to them again about getting me a bike, i will ease myself into using the bike gradually i think.. lol... have u heard of any more strike dates yet billypants?

no more strike details to be announced for 7 days to give Royal Mail time to get their fingers out their asses and talk to us

as for easing yourself back into doing the job properly, you do what you think's right but always remember we're all fighting for a common cause and the more support we get the more likely they will listen. . . . . . we must stand together if we intend to make a difference.

Don't be intimidated by the screws, they cannot make you use your car and they cannot make you work over your time
