abuse of strikers

Post by frankie »

I do not want to open up a can of worms with regards to strike-breakers. They are entitled to work if they so wish, as we, are entitled to strike. What made me mad as hell this morning on our picket line, was this, two people turned up for work and the gates were padlocked, due to a sudden loss of memory???... no-one could remember the combination for the lock, aaaahhhh! So, when we advised them they would have to use another gate, one of them called us w*****rs and as they drove off, made a gesture meanong, w****rs. Now, my arguement is this, if we can't refer to them as strike breakers or abuse them, should they be allowed to name call and abuse us in this fashion, or is it one law for them and another for us. When we informed the dom (popping out between showers) he did'nt seem to want to get involved. No surprise there.

It is of course down to you if you wish to make an official complaint, hopefully there were other witnesses to back you up.

abuse

Post by coppertop »

At our office in deepest darkest darzet we had a guy who came in on his day off we said thank-you for your support he promptly told us to F....OFF
We did inform our dum who is now taking the matter in hand. We like most I have read about showed respect to all so it was not warranted to be abusive towards us. And as far as I am concerned I hope the scab gets the sack. I am sure that had anybody on the pickett line been abusive the full force of the conduct code would have been used

Under the IR framework, if you are threatened/abused or bullied by anyone (including managers) you are entitled to take the matter further under the conduct code.get the witness's to confirm in writing what was said/gestured.
If you think they can get away with it then they can! fight for your rights!!

I got on the picket line at 3.45am but there was a couple of guys who were there at 3am,one scab decided to go in at 3am and told the boys on the picket line "don't get to wet in the rain" what a prick. The scab who came in at 3am is retiring in a few weeks time, can't see a collection for him.

In WTLL this week my DOM said we can not abuse those wishing to work but more importantly he said that those working cant give the strikers/picketers any abuse either!

Proably because he dosent want his staff infighting which would mean he has to try and sort things out etc etc.

Yesterday some of my lads were singing "lets all stand together" which apparently convinced some of the members to observe the strike.

We had abuse from people who went in to work, and the manager had the cheek to come out to us and say 'noticed we didn't call the police', as I said to him, it wasn't us harressing people and driving like a luny, perhaps we should have call the police to protect the pickets.

It's hard to understand the mentality of scum like those 13 strike breakers.

Because we didn't have any strike breakers the only abuse I received was from a member of public who told me I should get back to work as I made him sick I might add that I was stood alone and he did not repeat the statement to fifteen of my male comrades who where picketing the gate coward. :no no
