National Hardship Fund

Post by Jack Mehoff »

I've just been on the phone to a friend at CWU HQ and have been informed that a National Hardship Fund should be up and running by tomorrow.
I don't have all the details but I do know you should have all the info at DO's and MC's by tomorrow.

The person that told me is based at CWU HQ and has been a union man for over 30 years. He was also a good friend of my father-in-law (who used to be a main union senior).
So if this person tells me something.....I know it's not a lie.

It would be helpful if the TUC contacted other unions for help during the forthcoming strikes.

I've just been talking to a senior at Billy Hayes office and I have been informed that the national hardship fund is still in the process of being formed. Because it is a national fund it is a more in-depth process than a localised fund.
Hopefully the fund will be fully operational by the end of next week.

You were right and I was mis-informed, as was my friend. It turns out that the set-up process for the fund was being started today.
I spoke to someone in Billy's office this morning who confirmed that the process had started but it takes about a week to complete all the right paperwork.
I told them that a lot of people were really feeling the effects of the strikes right now and something should have been put in place much earlier.
As soon as I know more I will let you know.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
