D2D PREP TIME

hello
i need some help, asked my DUM today about prepping d2d in works time. his reply was as it's a separate payment i have to prep them in my own time [i've three lots this week] and want to do them in works time. i'm sure i have seen somewhere that you shouldn't have to do them in your own time. links to official rm documents or any agreements would be great, something i can print off and insert them into him. thanks

This crops up on a weekly basis.

You prep 20% of D2Ds in your duty time. End of. If you are forced to do them in your own time that could be classed as compulsory overtime, which is illegal.

Do them first thing when you get in. I divide my frame into 8 vertical sections and do 2 sections per day. This keeps the weight down so youre not doing whole roads of d2ds if you prep a whole horizontal row.

indeed. the other day i started preping d2d's about 10mins before we were going to get told to stop throwing off. my colleagues were like dont do that! that stuff's crap, you've got your bundles to do. so im just going to do it prior to throwing bundles of now so they cant whine

Bandit, look at first post here and download the latest and currently inforce agreement on d2d(1996).

Look at the top of page 7 of said agreement and you will find what you need to show your Manager. Tell him he should be aware of this and ask him if he has been trained on d2d. This is the official agreement between RM and CWU and ask him why he is telling you to breech this agreement. If he ignores this and insists you continue to prep in own time refuse pont blank based on the terms of the agreement. Get a harrassment form in against him stating that you have advied him of the agreement but he is ignoring it. If he takes ANY action against you (which he wont cause he knows he's lieing) he will be digging a hole for himself.

I've got 2 lots of D2Ds this week but only one lot has arrived so far...I have friday off and am really hoping that the second lot come in tomorrow...even if they do though i'm not going to be able to prepare enough to take out tomorrow(wednesday) and I may have to just do it all on thursday. But what if it doesn't come in until thursday? It will add a good hour or two onto my run, would I get overtime for that?

In essence if it arrives in the DO after Tuesday then you don't have to do it. It its under your desk tomorrow then if you can do it all you get a 40% bonus on it.

No you can't get OT on D2Ds being the cause for going over so if they arrive late let your DOM make the decision.

20% d2d per day I work 4 days not counting Saturday this = 80% for me and 20% for whoever covers on my day off, if they don't do it then tough sh!t it doesn't get done

my dum is very stubborn, he runs on flannel and bullsh1t. i will be taking the printout to work tomorrow and see what he says.

When I showed a printout to my DIM his jaw hit the floor and for some reason he lost the ability to speak !!

Since I have a mix of single and double slots (worse since the executive action revision altered my walk even without actually adding or removing streets), this is what I do. On whatever is my first day of the week, I prep enough d2d to cover the single slot streets and take out whatever I am also taking letters to. In addition to this I spread out the double-slot streets over the week. I'll take a whole double-slotter out letters or not, because it's a pain to do otherwise. This way, I usually take 3 or 4 days to do the d2d. I always leave Monday free, as we regularly get items turning up on a Tuesday, and the d2d signing sheet is NEVER there on Monday, so we can't check what we're supposed to have for the week

Exactly how I do this changes depending on my rota day off. On a long weekend, I've got four days to leave the single slots waiting for an actual letter to turn up. You can imagine for yourselves how it works for the rest of the week.

The bestest thing to do in these situations is to ignore your manager and let him take you down the conduct code,he wont get far,and it's also fun.

This way, I usually take 3 or 4 days to do the d2d.

Just so you know BWC you are going against rules of 20% per day here and could be refused OT payment on any days you take out over 20%. This is because manager can argue you are needing the OT to do the extra D2D that day not becuase there is too much mail.
