Is your office still absorbing ????

Post by krussel »

Well we have now passed the 17th Sept which was the cut off date for summer absorbtion under the 2007 agreement and our office is showing no sign of stopping. In fact as from next week they are adding yet another walk to absorb  :no no
I was just wondering if its stopping elsewhere :hmmmm
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Well you must have time to do it.They could add twenty walks to our total of 0 and it would not bother us as we get in on time, take our breaks ,dont use our cars and do the job properly. This leaves no time for any others.

Two days a week, six deliveries, sorting shift brought in at 5 a.m., 16 Yorks left unsorted on one of the days - hence the early shift of sorters - numptys still coming in early, still using their cars - is it any wonder RM keep adding on?

We absorbed for 12 weeks during the summer which finished on 31st Aug.

Nothing since then, due to the fact that after three years of cuts we struggle each day sorting IPS mail for 2hrs 30mins each morning before cutting off.

I'm impressed by Royal Mail and it's business plan. Cut nights, cut walks and driving duties unrealistically using Pegasus, cut fulltime duties and cut the budget by 10% each year.

When the new walk sequence mail comes in which was promised in 2007 arrives they'll be nobody left in the office to sort it !!!

Don't let what has happened in my office happen to you vote Yes

Only 3 days? In my office it's the full monty still!!!!! 6 days and we have to justify why we book O/T on the heavy days. Mind you having said that 1 or 2 are still behaving like Kingfishers and running around and they have the cheek to moan about it!!!! :nana

Read Phase 3 people absorbing is not limited to Summer

Summer absorption comes under phase 2 and is purley to do with the traditional summer lull in mail levels.

Phase 2 was developed well before phase 3

Phase 3 deals with the rest of the year

Delivery Offices
Absorbing Hours & Covering for One Another

Aims

• To jointly identify/implement genuine opportunities to absorb outdoor and/or indoor workload where time exists within approved attendance times/normal paid work hours.
• To provide sensible options for the business to take advantage of opportunities to increase efficiency when workload declines, or there are absences.

absorbing every day now been told by DOM that this will go on and on they are taking 3 more dutys out next week DOM says hes been told to save an extra 120 hours and area manager has told him no excuses just do it he has to ring his boss each week to get clearance for O/T to be paid 50% of office working to time rest are just running round like headless chickens, just hope that Dave Ward does not sell us out with a 6 week period of calm to cover the xmas period i have no desire to hurt our customers, but i feel that at this time of the year we are getting thier attention.

For myself after doing the absorbtion its taking me right up to my time or some days over for about 10-15 mins. I am currently booking the extra at the end of the week but a lot of others seem content to run around and work extra for nothing whist still use their cars. Nearly everone has stopped coming in early but no one will break off  We were all under the impression that absorbtion would end this week as it has in other offices around our area but it looks like we are carring on 5 days a week. Trouble is that many of our town walks are still completing over an hour before their time and cant see it as much of a problem. :no no
The rurals (me included) are now struggling with the absortion, going over time, and are supposed to be having a crises meeting with management next week to look at the problem.

our office is still absorbing and going strong. all because people rush around to get it done. people still coming in early to prepp thier own walks then during ips, prepping the absorbtion walk as instructed by manager. managers getting in at 4am to prep 2 absorbtion walks. people doing thier absorbtion BEFORE thier own dutys just to nick some time here and there. When i cant do my own walk let alone absorbtion,i get called to the office and get it in the ear threats etc. its a complete and utter joke. The letter royal mail sent to us to beg us not to strike said something like lets keep our end of the pay and modernisation deal 2007, so where in that deal did it say absorb all year even past the 12 week period?
