WHAT CHANGES ARE OCCURING IN YOUR OFFICE

Torapeach PM'd me with an excellent idea here it is.


While looking at the many posts on the forum some of which are very informative and others not so it is becoming more and more confusing to people who have been with RM just a short time.

Although we are all experiencing change in the work place and finding difficulties in doing the job with all the imposed changes there does not seem to be a consolidated topic for the changes in offices in a bullet-point list.

For example a what's changed in your office thread that could be informative to the casual user of forum sites and an easy way to compare the changes in offices nationwide.

So there you go - A bullet Point list to give us an idea of what changes are going on. (if you want to contribute but prefer not to post the information yourself then please PM me and I'll post it for you.

To start my Office:

Already Imposed/agreed

1. Summer Lapsing
2. Nights removed.
3. Pegasus 1 (with loss of duties)
4. half hour flexing
5. Longs and Shorts
6. Minus 30 hour contracts
7. Single day leave selection (in disagreement)

Soon to be imposed

1. Pegasus 2 (with loss of duties)
2. Lapsing all year.
3. BSI100 & IWT

Future changes we have been made aware of

1. Later starts and later last letter.
2. Saturday normal working day.
3. Walk sequencing.

1. Summer Lapsing but now 3 day a week all year lapsing
2. Nights removed * sometimes 1-2 of the 3 are removed daily.
3. Pegasus last year but showed rounds were big so ignored
4. Longs and Shorts
5. 20 hour people given rounds, so ft rounds now pt as people leave/sacked
6. 5 hour people


Future changes we have been made aware of

1. Later starts and later last letter.
2. Saturday normal working day.
3. Walk sequencing.

1. Summer Lapsing but has paved the way for autumn/winter/spring cut offs
2. Nights removed 4 years ago
3. Pegasus 1 (with loss of 3 duties)
4. half hour flexing - scrapped due to pay back being requested at the end of duty time ie: finishing half an hour earlier
5. Longs and Shorts

Soon to be imposed

1. Pegasus 2 (with loss of 7 duties) - on hold due to facts and figures by RM having been plucked out of thin air
2. BSI100 & IWT - not sure about this, is this in every office?
3. Sheffield Mail Centre to get another IMP due to increase volume in mail

Future changes we have been made aware of

1. Last letter 3pm towns / 4pm rurals

4 . Absorbing to start possibly due to going tio 5 day week.

Pegasus 1 (no duties lost)
Banking of hours (scrapped as hardly anyone banked anything and the ones that did never paid it all back anyway = should be otherwise known as 'how not to make your staff work hard')
Collapsing continuing into Autumn
30 mins flex, never really seen it used or needed
All night duties and all longs and shorts went years ago, delivery staff sort all mail as well as prepping p/t walks, which is why our average time on sorting is 90 mins - 2hrs.

To come - I assume lapsing all year round


Job overall - still easy.

we have at least 3 walks supposed to be done on absoption which dont get delivered at all some days.
2 of them have at least a 2 day backlog to still do.


a crazy idea which needs re thinking sharpish.

so can some one answer me a question

what are going to go on strike for and hope to gain

in disagreement, but they want to remove 2 walks and make 7 out of the remaining 27 part time as well as 2 walks kept on stand by on days when the think its possible to lapse them.also want to take out 200 hours through evr and buy downs .so far only one of the senior men has accepted and finishes in 12 weeks with £50,000 to compensate 27 years service. no mention of later starts still 6 to 2 and 5 to 1 saturdays.have also been told they want another 10% saving next year which probaly leave 1 to sort packets 1 to sort letters and 1 to sort flats while everybody else preps the p/t walks mind you thats quite close to whats happening allready, forgot to mention all new development to absorpted.

You should NOT of agreed to anything,this was the national stance,and many branches/offices have ignored it.

As for why strike,think of next year,the year after,the year after...........

we agreed because we were advised to by our reps,should have known better i suppose.
by the way voted yes anyway.sick of all this s**t.
but very dissapointed with the way its been handled by union.
