Down Stream Access mail
Is DSA mail meant to arrive at us walksorted? Because at my DO much of this stuff is simply plonked down on the IPS frames so us muggins can do it for them.

I'm sure when the leaches started sending their s**t we used to not sort it because of that. But as for now...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

So is it, or isn't it, meant to arrive in walksorted bundles? Most of our IPS time seems to be sorting DSA stuff. Is RM doing their work for nothing? Nobody seems to know.

Re: Down Stream Access mail
Apart from the non-machinable items, nearly all your DSA should arrive walksorted. When it arrives at the MC only part of it is already walksorted, but I'm not sure what percentage. The rest will be processed at the MC, then sent on to DO's. Of course, there will always be a certain amount of items which end up as machine rejects for a variety of reasons. The amount of these will depend on how thorough the mech operators are. We regularly process 300-350k DSA through the machines at our MC, which is around half of the inward nightly machinable workload. In my view, it makes a mockery of the "final mile" phrase - in reality RM is doing at least half, if not more, of the work involved.orienteer wrote:So is it, or isn't it, meant to arrive in walksorted bundles? In my DO at least half of the mech bundles are DSA (depending on the day, tomorrow most will be dsa) and at least half of the IPS is made up of DSA. I sometimes wonder if I work for RM or TNT/UK MAIL.
