Its a nap i think everyone knows that. Its gona be a big fat yes im guessing about 70% atleast.

What does this mean for our jobs tho? Will there be job loses? They cant take anymore hours out surely?

The general feeling in amongst staff is that if its not a YES vote, the union will be finished and RM will do what they like. But some staff aren't that bright and easily mislead.
No vote i leave before xmas, Yes vote i leave July.

Im voting yes no doubt about it.

Whats happens afterwards tho? We're not gona get a pay rise , go back to normal and everyone is best friends again.

Yes they will take more and more hours out until most of us have only a part time job. Fact

Will there be job losses - Yes that's inevitable whether we strike or not given Royal Mail Managements current style and approach to its work force.

They can't take out any more hours - Yes they can and with increased automation the process will probably accelerate.

The reason is not to stop or even reverse this process - its to give the Union a voice in how to make the changes so those that leave get the best possible and fairest deals, and those that are left have decent working conditions, attractive earnings and a share in any success. But most importantly that they have a fair and manageable work load and good work/life balance.

This is not a fight over jobs and wages, IMO its more of an idealogical dispute over what is right and wrong, fair and unfair, inclusiveness or diktat, and even service or business,

Yes there will be job loses down to automation

but its how those job loses are dealt with and what us who are left how our job will look.
We need full time jobs on a shorter working week with agreements in place to deal with all the day to day issues we face on the front line such as length of delivery spans,weight on delivery,d2d etc etc.

It would be good if the part time people could get anything out of this.. It seems like nobody cares about us, o well my dog still licks my feet when i take off my boots after my huge walk

Part time workers will gain if they do not cut the job up and themselves in the process as a 35 working week will need more hour-age thus making part time up in hours and hourly rate if? we all get a pay rise for our efforts in making royalmail record profits in twenty years or is it just the lazy :cfo at the top who live of the workers backs as the parasite he is!.

haha peanut butter i love coming on here knowing im going to wake up in about 6hours just to laugh so i do not get increasingly depressed with my life as a postman delivering giros to smak heads and capital once credit card junk to people who will never be able to afford to repay themback so my 53 pound tax that i payed this week will help at least one of them pay there debt thank you gordan brown u T.W..T for letting me live my life like this. Please let me go to school i promise i might get one G.C.S.E, but most of all thank you fellow postmen/women for making me smile x

are these ballot papers tracked to every person ?
can they find out who you are by the code at the top of the paper ?

I don't think the serial number is a tracking number - merely a check to try and ensure there is no fraud. For instance if someone wanted to vote "No" or an organisation perhaps with vested interests, (also the same for a Yes vote naturally), then the serial number would be included on every photocopy and therefore all votes with that number would be rejected. If there were enough fraudulent votes then a ballot would need to be redone.
