Letter to the Spanish Ambassador

Dear Sir

As a postman I am writing to you to dissociate myself from the views attributed to the Chief Executive of Royal Mail.
However one wishes to interpret the term “Spanish practices” it seems to me to be derogatory to Spain and to the employment practices there (as well as being insulting to the workforce of the organisation which he is meant to be leading).
My experience of modern Spain is that it is a forward looking and dynamic country that has made a great deal of progress in recent decades – not least in the field of employment. I am sure that many of our business leaders could learn a great deal from the Spanish experience rather than trying to portray your country as having an outdated approach to labour relations and working practices.
I hope that you will not let the unfortunate remarks of someone who has little room to criticise others in the management of their workforce to sour relations between our two countries.

Earlier, the term old Spanish customs was used in 1986 in reference to long-lasting industrial action in Fleet Street, traditionally the home of the UK’s newspaper industry, for example the Wapping dispute.

Seems certain members of the "press" will use/twist any info they can to fit their agenda, i.e-all postmen are lazy workshy scumbags who are just whinging.About time someone did another DISPATCHES expose on RM bullying by managers,or at least put a balanced picture of this dispute!

lol. talk about take a piece of info and twist it to suit what you want. how is it boasting about a scam? is this not a legitimate working practice in offices all over the country? they dont mention the reason why the mail is undeliverable? its because our deliverys are so long now that 9 times out of ten we dont get finished in time. im sick of being tarred with the lazy brush because people dont understand things. we need a national campaign informing people of whats going on instead of people reading these one sided piceces of rubbish journalism.
