Changing shift times and harrasment.

Post by TheBear »

Hi

I browse these forums quite often and i just wanted some advice.

Im a F/T posty of 2 years in the southwest and i just overheard something in my office. As we were gearing up for leaving the office at our normal time of 10am a few people approached management and informed them that they would be cutting off due to amount of mail and the new walks we have now due to the farce that is geo route.

The manager then responded to him by saying well if you are breaking off we will change your shift times?! Now im not sure where the poor chap stands on this, can they do this? if so to what extent can they do this? I personally cant see what benefit they would get by bringing him in later as it means its one less person on the ips and we have to double prep him.

Another thing bugging the crap out of me is this pulled in manager insisting that no one should be breaking off and trys to accelrate us out. Today he said to me "we will get you out early" i asked how and the response was "well dont take your break or take half?" I laughed and said so i just take it at the end? the response was a quiet murmer. What the hell are these guys playing at?

Most of our problems now stem from our revision and the fact that all walks have increased and a total of 2 walks have had bits taken off them. Oh and 2 people who had input on the geo route with the geo route team include our phg who has not done a walk in 15 years and a DOM assistant (monkey boy) who legs it around his round. Since the office had begun an increased rate of cut offs we have had more and more senior managment appearing in our office each week. I was told today by a rather senior manager of the southwest area that we are not going to bother with breaks lol.
Sick of them trying to make us feel like criminals by simply wanting to do the 40hrs we are contracted for.

At first the revision was just bearable due to it being in the "quieter" period of the year but now as mail volumes are increasing towards xmas these walks are coming undone.

first of you should not have had a revision and if they change your start times it would be unagreed

Hmm from what i gathered most offices in the southwest had a revision but most just ignored it and made tweaks to exsisting rounds. Seems like they wont admit that that the new walks dont work in our office. They implemented the town changes 7 weeks ago and the rural changes on monday just gone. We are supposedly still in a trial period, ha.

This is happening all over, they just push through the changes without agreement and in the ensuing chaos they blame everyone but themselves.

Put in a grievence against the manager quoting exactly what the DOM said.

Just remind the DOM that the USO only allows you to deliver after 14:00 (Town) and 15:00 (Rural) in exceptional circumstances. So if your Shift times are changed, to allow you to deliver after these times on a regular basis. Then he will be in breach of the USO, and you'll report him to the Regulator. :hmmmm
