Can AG's go full time in a re-sign?
was just wondering if an AG with as many years service as a current full timer could go from being an AG to full time in a re-sign? there is some confusion in our office as to whether this would be allowed.

Re: Can AG's go full time in a re-sign?
No i doubt it,length of service is not the issue,we have had a recruitment ban in
our area for some time now,as the P&M agreement means they can draft staff in
from other functions to cover workload.
Previously if a full-timer left, you could be made up,as you would take his place on
I.P.S.
With the onset of more sequenced mail, and pressure on the DOM to CUT hours,it's
exceptionally unlikely.

Re: Can AG's go full time in a re-sign?
Can't stop them going full time if they have the same or better seniority as a full timer..management may try to block it as they dont want people going full time as they obviously aim to make this a part time industry but if they do get the Union involved as they cannot discriminate against you because you are part time

Re: Can AG's go full time in a re-sign?
Under the way forward agreement there is transit from either full time to part time or part time to full it all depends on your seniorty in a re sign you can pick what is available to you at that point either full time or part in regards to your seniorty position check the Way Forward Agreementshrew1 wrote:was just wondering if an AG with as many years service as a current full timer could go from being an AG to full time in a re-sign? there is some confusion in our office as to whether this would be allowed.

it depends if you have any full time vacancys and then under the way forward you are entitled to apply for a full time duty otherwise its positive discrimination

Re: Can AG's go full time in a re-sign?
So are you saying that in a re-sign, if you're full time and all the full time duties have been taken by the time it's your turn in the seniority list, you can be forced to go part time ? That doesn't sound right !Gazabarnes wrote:Under the way forward agreement there is transit from either full time to part time or part time to full it all depends on your seniorty in a re sign you can pick what is available to you at that point either full time or part in regards to your seniorty position check the Way Forward Agreementshrew1 wrote:was just wondering if an AG with as many years service as a current full timer could go from being an AG to full time in a re-sign? there is some confusion in our office as to whether this would be allowed.
Or is it that you automatically become a full time floater 'cause no duty can be allocated ?

Re: Can AG's go full time in a re-sign?
In an office re-pick,you simply select your duty.
if a full-time person is allocated to a walk and decides to select something different,
it doesn't mean that if you choose his old walk you would be made full-time.
The person is either full or part time not the duty.
As far as vacancies are concerned, these should be advertised as either full or part
time, depending on capacity for the inward primary sorters.
As i said earlier,no DOM is looking to put hours back into the office,so if a 40 hour
man leaves and he can be replaced by someone on a 25 hour contract,it speaks for
itself, that there is very little chance of going full time.

In my office all the OPGs (FTS) are allowed to pick any of the FT walks, they cannot pick a PT walk and stay FT. If there any FT walks vacant then in seniority order AGs(PTs) would be allowed to select the vacant walks. This is so that the FTs earnings stay the same - however, they can elect to go part time with a buy down in hours if available.
If a FT elects to go PT then the will select their duties in seniority order with PTimers not FTimers.
If all the FT walks go and there are still FT staff to pick duties they will then be offered/placed in reserve positions.
In essence as I understand it seniority is used on repicks but FTimers first Partimers 2nd.
The rules sound different for MCs and DOs so hopefully out of the all the posts you have your answer.

Re: Can AG's go full time in a re-sign?
In the past migration from PT to FT and FT to PT was easy but in the present climate it is not so easy - you would need to have expressed a desire to go from one to the other PRIOR to the resign.

I don't know how this has been agreed locally,it clearly discriminates against the part time workers.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:shrew1 wrote:was just wondering if an AG with as many years service as a current full timer could go from being an AG to full time in a re-sign? there is some confusion in our office as to whether this would be allowed.

with every walk set at 3 1/2 hours, how can you call one full-time and one part-time and set them aside
accordingly?
so in effect in your office, you only have seniority if your full-time.
Seniority is based on length of service not length of duty!

Re: Can AG's go full time in a re-sign?
Must be a local agreement as you say, but I was a PT reserve and one FT duty came up, no one went for it at all so I got it and became FT. When I asked what happens on a full repick I was told what I posted above.robd wrote:I don't know how this has been agreed locally,it clearly discriminates against the part time workers.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:shrew1 wrote:was just wondering if an AG with as many years service as a current full timer could go from being an AG to full time in a re-sign? there is some confusion in our office as to whether this would be allowed.

Not sure how it discriminates against PTs though as it gave them a chance to go FT like I did. However under new system where management don't make up PT who take FT vacant positions no one has a chance of ever getting full time hours.
Also if you based it on seniority across the whole office would that not be unfair if someone, like me (being selfish on this one
At our office the duties are FT and PT positions rather than the posties themselves being FT or PT. If you select at PT duty you are PT if you get a FT position then you go FT. (At least before 2007 anyway).

Way Forward covers this off, would need to be a actual FT vacancy
