come into work

Post by trouble »

Just being informed that one of the men in our office had an accident on duty which resulted in a broken right leg. After going to hospital and getting a cast on his leg, he phoned the manager to let him know that he would be off for a while as his leg was sore and that he was not allowed to put any weight on it (using crutches).
The manager must really be under pressure as he told him that he would pick the injured postie up from his house get him to do IPS and then prep one or two duties.
After this he could then go out with someone in a van and train them on a town walk (from the comfort of the van as not to cause him any discomfort)
Is this manager having a laugh or what?
What do managers expect from us?
Knowing the way managers work they would probably take him down the conduct line for not reaching the BSI 100 standards.
Is this Royal Mails new policy or yet again inexperienced managers.

something similar has happened to myself recently
just wait till atos ring, oh and the managers just to check on your well-being
expect no sympathy from them they just want you back to work - you are only a number
the future is not looking to bright for us postmen/postwomen

shouldnt be in the office with crutches asd he is a health and safety risk to himself and the rest of the office ..imagine if there was a fire !!
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

 Also, his foot should be elevated...if any managers are reading this shame on you,and how much bonus for keeping the 'sickness' level down, by forcing ill people into the workplace.Get your local M.p involved.

Its my understanding that the manager is not allowed to let someone with a serious injury come into work until they have seen ATOS and there has been a risk assessment done.

And at what point in the phone call did your mate tell the manager to f**k off!!!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
