Most overtime on a walk?

claimed till 5.55 one day. Was meant to finish at 1.30. Was my first day out on my own though.

Most is 2hrs extended due to not knowing walk and being busy

Claimed until 7.15pm once.

New revision, huge walk with 850 drops spread out. All hidden flats and weird addresses id never visited before - it was winter so i had to slow down in the dark. Needed the cash at the time - I was PT temp 30 hours.

Would i do it now? No way jose.

anyone know what the deal is with just being busy?

Does this turn a 3n a half hour walk into a 4 or 5 hour walk???

my walk jsut seems so unrealistic but if its "very" queit then i can finish on time...

but anything close to busy and im allways over by an hour atleast ....

its confusing what they expect from me

The job in itself is strange. Mail volumes are unpredictable.

For example, today theres was a lot of prep to do. Masses of mailsort and catalogues yet very few packets. It was a close shave getting out on time.
The delivery however was heavy but a breeze. The lack of packets meant i easily completed on time.

Royal Mails stance on getting paid for the hours you work clearly doesnt make sense when its impossible to predict the daily workload.

Expecting workers to be totally flexible if its heavy but RM being totally inflexible when it light is unfair.

Either we just work our hours and deliver whats left over the following day, then the following day etc, or we have a salary style system whereby we get paid 25,000 p/a with % increase each year based on profits and clear the work with a fair distribution no matter what the volume.

Its about time Postal workers got paid a decent wage for a decent days work. Look at the fuss when we strike. If the job is so important then why am I earning only 17000 gross a year?
