Post by tragictramp »

Hi people, i have just got an email from my dom saying that i will be paid for 3 weeks of my holidy pay owed from last year in next weeks salary and also have an added 1 week and 1 day added to this years holiday entitlement, i have plenty of holidays spare for this year anyway, so can i refuse and request for this week and 1 day to be paid as well? i think its a bit of a cheek myself !!

no, i was on a 1 hr contract and royal mail decided that they didnt have to follow the rules and regulations and have know been found out, so i requested for last years holiday pay to be backpaid, its took a few months and know they are at the final stage - paying me, they decide to give me extra hols for this year as well lol, their are several staff still on the 1 hr contract from last year who worked more hours than me and would be entitled to 5 weeks pay or leave as well as this years, apparently they are intending to give them extra leave to save money and i assume make people absorb their dutys to save money.

Does this apply to all staff on less than 40 hour contracts who regularly work 40 hours each week?

There will be people in my office interested in this if this is the case. Can i ask how you set this in motion to reclaim the holiday pay?

i doubt it in royal mail's eyes, they will say that any additional time u work is by your own personal choice ie overtime. with the 1 hour situation it has been ruled at tribunal that these staff should be paid pro rata holidays as they will not be expected or ever have to do only 1 hours work a week. its a fair point though cos i bet theirs thousands of staff who are contracted to say 30 hrs and will do 40 and rota'd in to do the 40 as well, so not really optional!
