Let's all be honest anybody can mess around with the figures. This colleague share thing is a total joke we will all get nothing, the only ones which will benefit is the bosses and there big fat bonus.

We will get something from them, if we decide to sell out and accept privatization and become their wage slaves working for a pittance. I know where :cfo can stick his colleague share scheme... Do managers get these shares on top of their other inflated bonuses? It wouldn't surprise me if they did!

What gets me is that Crozier's letter is all about how well we have done, thanks for all your hard work, for what f**k ALL!! No pay rise and no collegue share dividend. This is about f***ing everybody off so we take VR, nothing more nothing less. Our "share" price goes down after a record profit. Isn t it about time we got a bit more aggresive on this and got the CWU to start asking real questions.............. Like, what are you doing to our f***ing company? :cfo

That would be the real world view.

However the gamblers, sorry bankers, and institutions who play with our pensions paint it in a different way so that they can maximise their profit. They base the share value of a company on many things:

Market Forces
Current profit position.
Past profit and Future profit.
Future forecast growth
Future expenditure
Risk of Industrial Action
Personalities running the business
Future Risks
Property Portfolio
City rumours on Company

These along with uncounted other matters, are used by the bean counters to come up with a figure depending on what position they are trying to place themselves. So for the moment even though they are not real shares, Royal Mail are painting the blackest position they can to us the shareholder and employees. When they wanted to show RM in a good light with Modernisation progressing well and volumes rising - guess what the share price went up.

Its a black art and RM have the magicians needed to either promote a good price or a falling price. They are not real shares anyway just a way for them to give us a "Bonus" and not increase the basic rate of pay.

Well thats only my own opinion of course.

What if I leave before four years are up?
