Yesterday I was stopped in the middle of nowhere by a City Link driver who aske me directions for TWO not ONE address.I reluctantly gave him directions but i have two points here.
1.I have been trained and had to make mistakes to get my rural right, why should these guys just think"oh theres a postman he will tell me where it is".Dont forget these are our competition and were helping them.
2.As i can see no end to this matter, maybe Royal Mail could design a form whereby the other driver signs it when given directions then RM can bill them for the job.
Just a little petty there don't you think? Yes, they are competition but at the end of the day they are just trying to do a job, just like us. I quite happilly give anyone that asks directions if I can.
Maybe you think its petty and i can appreciate that. The point is its just so easy to ask the postman, why dont they get proper training. So when your made redundant due to falling mail volumes, you can get a job training City Link drivers how to read a map.
TBH if anyone asks me then I'll give them directions, it really depends on how they ask and as someone said, they are just people trying to do a job for a worse employer than RM.

I NEVER give them directions that applies to private couriers too,at WTLL we are always told these are our competitors and do a better job than us, so why should i help a company who ultimately want my job???????????
at certain times our enquiry counter is full of TNT,DHL, CITYLINK and all manner of private couriers an old PHG colleague used to shake the charity box at em and ask for a donation
how sad lol! these guys doin a job same as us, grow up. when ive been lost when doin a new collection these people help me out we're all doin a job tryin to earn, nice people does it matter who u work for?? and just because they work for sum1 else u wont help em out?? pathetic.
i know how frustrating it is when u cant find sumwhere and to help sum1 out i think is my duty makes life that bit easier.
still i bet u feel like the man when u refuse to help the competition out hahaha what a legend u are!!!

I tried to explain to a courier the other day that the block of flats he was looking for, had been demolished 5 years ago, by the end of it i did begin to wish i hadn't bothered, it was pretty hard going getting him to realise it wasn't there any more, i am not sure that it had sunk in when i left.
