'work related stress'

I Am currently off with 'work related stress'.

Following the changes to my delivery which meant I no longer had quick and easy access to toilets( I Have a bowel desease ) combined with a almost doubling of the size of my delivery. The loo's thing meant at the back of my mind I was a bit worried but the increase in delivery size meant I was no longer able to finish work in duty time. I informed managers before the new system started that it was going to be a problem(loo's & finishing). I was ignored. I tried the new delivery for 2 days, about half is made up of my old delivery, and it was taking me just under 5hours to complete. According to RM it should take 3.5hrs! A manager came out with me and he timed it at 4hrs 45mins! I was told to 'do my best' while they think up a solution. On the Friday before last the mail was heavy and I decided I wanted to finish 'on time' . I went down to the office and two managers started on at me "why are you taking so long to prep delivery" " It shouldn't take this long" "You should be ready to leave office by 0930" and on and on..... I reminded them that I was prepping a delivery that they agreed was too big and so it must take me longer, this was not acceptable to them!

All this was in front of 2 other workers in our office. I was really 'pi**ed off' that having worked there for 11 years, never late, good sick record etc etc that they should treat me like this. I went back to my frame, by this time I was actually shaking, I felt sick and my stomach was churning over. I went back to the office, said I felt ill....and then I went home.

Anyone else had this problem?

Sorry to hear of your troubles--but if you have irritable bowel syndrome, it IS covered by the D.D.A,so you bosses should make allowances for this.

Yeah it`s classic bullying and harrasement from mangement tools who bring in something that they know is unworkable then expect people to `do their best`something that most of us posties are doing in the first place.
They should sort it out, as after all they are management and getting paid to do just that, but decide that instead it`s easier to blame an individual and go out of their way to make life as difficult as possible knowing that if you crack and tell them to feck off or go off work that theres always some other mug down the line they can shove into the duty.

They did the same thing at an office to a girl after a Pegasus revision,completly cocked her walked up made it into a 4hr 45 mins walk she complained,got told it would be sorted out,wasn`t sorted out then started giving her your too slow etc routine took into the office,shouted at on the shop floor off a bullying t.wat the office had as a DOM at the time,so surprise surprise she eventually went off with stress...fair play to the girl she stayed off and refused to come back to work until she had gotten a written document off an Area Manager that the walk would be re done,mind you it took 7 months on the sick with Atossers giving her grief weekly and adding to the stress before this all came to pass.
Get the union involved and slap in a grievance and good luck try not let the bastards grind you down.

I posted something a bit earlier with relevance to this, sorry i didnt see this first but hey.
but i can totally relate to the sick to the stomach thing, thats how i feel now, im no fun to be around for my son and partner, i feel really sick from being spoken to like a child from a manager flexing his muscles. i dont know what to do, thats why ive come on here to try n find a solution.

Scuse me - not giving a toss about work and helping and advising colleagues on here are 2 different things. At least in my book.

Obvioulsy people who are stressed and worried about going into work the next day are taking parts of the job home with them whether they like it or not. Most people on here including myself would like to think they can leave the job at work, but spend a small ammount of time on here! Go figure! Im not having a dig, it's just the way it is!

According to Atossers, "work relate stress" is not a medical condition??!!!!! Well it wasn't when I was off last year. Yeh depression is, which was caused by the work related issues!
They are manned by people wanting to get you back to work, not your own qualified doctor!

On the duties to cover board in the DO it said my name with the word STRESS in big letters next to it, so the whole office knew why I was off. Good job I didn't get the doctor to write depression on the sicknote else that would have been up there!!!

Regarding the over size walk, get everything that is told to you in writing, otherwise they will lie and pretend they said nothing of the sort! Get your Rep involved, if you have one! And if you have to go in the office talk someone with you.
