Help with working time.

Hi,
I've been looking trough the forums but i cant see an answer to my question.

I'm on a 30 hour contract, i start at 8 till 2 and i'm a reserve, anyway I was out on friday doing a delivery and i got finished about 15:15,
an hour and 15 mins o/, this included a lapse bit, when i spoke to the manager on saturday morning to fill in the o/t sheet, he refused to allow me to fill it in. He said that I could
make up for my lost time during the week when i finish early, Is this actually allowed?
recently i have not been finishing early due to lapsing and moved around to new walks.

And if i do work 6 hours a day how is it broken down, i.e. is there 1 30min break ,a 10 min break, 15 mins pouching off, 15 mins travel to walk, 3 1/2 hours delivery?

As far as I am concerned we don't 'bank' hours. Banking hours should have been on the agenda of one of the joint working groups under phase 4 of 2007 Pay & Mod Agmnt. No agreement has been reached over the various joint working parties so no banking of hours is acceptable in any way, shape or form.

If you do arrive back early on any given day just hang about at the office until your actual finishing time then go home. That way he can't make an issue of it as you are being paid up to your finishing time for the day. If the DOM sends you home then he can't claim that you owe him hours if he lets you go early.

I know it is a difficult concept for posties to grasp and accept after so many years of finishing ahead of time but continuing to finish early will leave you open to such an attack and further lapsing (all year and not just for the summer). Doing your job properly and safely is the watchword for all posties.

We ring the office if we think we're going to go past our time. If they say no to overtime cut off and send the lot back.

Besides, even IF banking of hours was happening, it can only be worked on a week to week basis. Therefore if you go over on a Friday there's no time to make it up on a Saturday so you should've been able to book the O/T.

Next time you go over by an hour, come in an hour late the next day if they don't let you book. You'll see just how flexible RM are then, IE not very!!!

30 mins flexibility is all they can expect us to do, i.e if you finish 1.30 on a Tuesday, this will allows a 2.30 finish on a Friday.

Available for a full shift i.e. eight hours every day, If Royal Fail can't give me enough work to fill my hours every day then that is their tough sh!t. Any time over my eight hours is payable O/T. so f#ck them :cfo

Unfortunately it also depends on your office. At hours any OT is calculated accumulatively on week so shorts and longs cancel each other out. We are passed disagreement stage and have voted locally to strike but fear our ballot will be put off until the national ones come as we had been expecting papers this week gone!

As others have said without taking the p*** to much fill your hours each day, most of us do my catching buses and w\walking back in from duties rather than pouch off and go home, as well as prepping d2d in frame for next day if required.

Personally, i'd stop doing overtime, now i don't do overtime, this is because they never payed for 1 hour. Their excuse was "your still not up to scratch after time off" which is true. Now, no o/time for me.

That's a good system, but all our gaffers are well gone before we even finish on time, especially with the long and short days, and the DO is deserted and locked up

Taking a personal phone and/ or cash onto delivery with you makes you a target for theives.

Therefore always ring your DO from a public phone box and reverse the charges. If you cant find a phone box then f*** 'em.

How can taking your Mobile out with you, make you a target for Thieves?
You're carrying valuable information, and sometimes, valuable items too. Why would a Mobile Phone make any difference?

My mobile is about 5 years old and TBH if I was to be mugged I could use it as a brick to beat them with although, thinking about it, it could be the reason why my back is going out
