They're laughing at us

Post by upmyroad »

Todays WTL. Or what there was of it consisted of our DOM informing us Royal Mail are pushing out 6 days worth of work over 5 days and saving 20% on the wages bill every week when we strike. Royal Mail couldn't care less if we strike or not they're saving money on the wages bill and there is no back log of work anywhere.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Can't help but believe him. They've had plenty of time to gear themselves up to get the work out over the 5 days instead of 6. Today Tuesday is our lightish day of the week but today was really heavy. they pushed out most of tomorrows work today. and we've now lost 5 days wages.

Thats what they want you think. Next time he tells you this tell him you want a pay rise as they can well afford it as we are saving them all this money. I think when we return to work after a strike we shouldn't do any overtime. DOM stands for Dictator on Megabucks. Maybe we should strike for longer if it doesn't bother them.

I sort of agree office strikes are too me pretty pointless, everyone should be out on strike. And the cwu shouldn't propose 3 months suspended service, the c*** we get in the workplace is unbelievable. The union should announce national strikes, after a vote, with no 3 months c***. People have their pensions a stake and the union has let us down badly. Grow some balls union and fight the government and rm thiefs.

Your are sacrificing more than some and for that you have my thanks. However Stoke I believe went out today on a rolling strike. No going back till they get a settlement.

The pension changes have already happened. The time to strike was in 2007, but the union 'decoupled' the pension issue and we were screwed over :evil/mad The only argument now is whether the government can be made to accept responsibility for the pension fund deficit, and bail it out. They sure found plenty of money to bail out their mates at Lloyds, Northern Rock and HBOS, so why can't they bail out our pension fund ? But the change to a 'defined benefits' scheme in place of a 'final salary' scheme has already taken place !!!!
Some in my office resigned from the union after the last fiasco, and put the money they used to spend on CWU subs into additional voluntary contributions, to try to offset at least some of the damage inflicted on their future pension.

So who was it that actualy spent the money from the pension in the first place. I know that there was a long holiday period. If the government took it they must replace it.

This one reason the union should be telling us to strike, in 1 year time the Tories will be in power. Or do we wait till we've lost everything. Pension gone, jobs going down the pan, made to go part-time. Bleak if our union doesn't set a motion for strike action to get our pension money we DESERVE.

Your DOM may be laughing, but inside RM are crying.
Every day that we strike cost RM a fortune in redirecting mail to other MC's , drafting in extra managers etc.etc.etc.
Quality of service figures are going down, DSA opperators are putting pressure on RM over missed delivery dates
They want you to think that they are coping well
But the reality is somewhat different

REMEMBER - If striking didn't work, then why have RM always come to a negotiated settlement in the past, Its not because they had a sudden change of heart- its because we had them by the balls and we applied gentle but ever increasing pressure, the pain increased until it became unbareable so they sat down ( carefully! ) at the negotiating table again.

They use the WTL to indoctrinate you all with their lies to be a good manager is to be a good liar in royalmails terms!. But there was no hiding of the anger of our managers having to work past midday on a Saturday two or three weeks of this esp when the football season starts will have them banging down their managers door!.
