How does annual leave work in other offices? Or LM is usually OK and does his best to give you the days that you need.
But our new DOM says from next year we have to take what we are given and have no choice in the matter.

All local offices should have a local agreement on leave selection allocation - contact your rep and he should be able to advise you.

Our office used to be by allocation (they choose) but it changed a number of years ago to selection (you choose) with the tie breaker being seniority.

we are a small office 30 staff split into 3 groups then choose leave by seniority group 1 first choice the 2 then 2 for the 1st 2 weeks then group 2 choose 1st and so on........year two rotas again and so on, all vote that this was the fairest way.............if some one leaves then next person employed takes there place

In our office you all fill in your preferences , with more than one choice for each signing, normally 3 signings a year,then to dom gathers in all the sheets chucks them up in the air and goes through them in the order they landed, well thats how it seems to work, cos i can't see any other logical connection as to the way its handed out.

Ours is done by the union rep, three columns containing blocks of seven names, column one chooses their dates then column two, then three. The next year, the top 7 names on column one go to the bottom of column three and the rest move up. Any new staff (as if) get put in the vacant slot in whatever column the person they are replacing was in. It works quite well, but then my rep doesn't let RM change the parameters, eg they wanted to reduce the number of staff on holiday during the summer and have a uniform number off each week.

In year 1, seniority for the first 2 weeks chosen, juniority for the second two weeks, seniority for any remaining weeks. In year 2 the reverse, juniority then seniority then juniority. Never had any problem getting the leave I want, but then I prefer to go on holiday in the winter and OT (when I did it) was easier to get in the summer.
