annual leave or sick leave

Hello I know someone on here will no the proper procedures to do with sick leave.

I was on annual leave for 2 weeks, halfway through the second week I got the flu so I go to the doctor, who in turn gives me a sickline for one week which will take me into the week after my annual leave so I inform the manager.
I was under the impression from what I have been told in the past that it was only the days after my annual leave was over that would be counted towards my sick record, but manager informs me today that the sick record will be from the date on the doctors letter, ( this will trigger a warning if this is the correct procedure ).

He says the days during my annual leave that are covered by the sickline will be added back on to my holiday entitlement and that this is the way Royal Mail have always worked, could someone please shed some light on this matter for me as I don't want the manager trying to fob me off with a warning when it might not be the case.

I think that is right. You get back your holiday days cause you were sick which you can use again, which i think is fair. I know getting a stage warning is not good but if it's your first you should be ok, i personally would rather have my hols back to use again than have wasted 2 weeks being sick, and I'm on a stage warning. Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear.

Think ahead,try to be one step ahead of them.

I'm not sure maybe someone could confirm it,but maybe ask for the sick cert back.And start again.
Get your rep to go in there,seems pointleess getting a stage if it could be avoided.

Afraid this is also how it works in our office
If you were sick after your holiday, for however many days, this would still trigger the warning, so you might as well claim back the holidays
One sick day or seven sick days, it's still classed as one period of sick
