Stressed out to the max

Hello folks need a bit of help with this one..I received a phone call from a workmate last night the poor guy is stressed out to the max with work (basically not knowing what delivery he is going to be on until he arrives for work in the morning and that includes driving duties).Is there someone he can talk to via a helpline he said he has spoken to the union without much success and management are just a waste of space the poor guy is at his wits end and to make matters worse he was involved in a minor road traffic accident through the week.So if anyone out there can help it would be much appreciated and i will pass the information on...many thanks folks..

Been there, don't be confrontational, sign on at your duty start time, take all your breaks, inform your DOM you will work to your duty finish time but that you will cut on the street to give enough time to return to the DO for disposal and DO NOT ever use a private car.
It will be a slog but they will weaken before you do.
It worked for me!

What a load of rubbish...He doesnt know the meaning of the word stress. Ah diddums he has to do a different walk most days, would guess 20% of the whole work force have to do this. Sounds like he needs to piss off to asda's and work on the tills. We have a guy at work whose young wife has had at least 2 strokes. They have 2 kids and after a days work he looks after them all. Now thats f***ing stress but he gets on with it and hardly ever moans. This workmate of yours just needs a kick up the arse and some reality.

Come off driving its easy enough just write a letter to manager. Thats solved 1 problem. How anyone can be stressed due to our job is unbelievable. Not saying they dont have problems out of work but they are not stressed solely due to being a postie. The job is a piece of piss. Go and work in a factory for 10 hours a day on minimum wage.

He is asking for advice mate not condemnation - stress affects everyone in different ways show a bit of compassion.

Should have added that it did take some time to sort out and I was finishing a lot later due to working to my time but the DOM blinked first and I had the satisfaction that my attendance, work rate and 'positive' (forced) attitude could not be questioned.
Plus point as well was that an extra duty had to be created to accelerate all the Walk men whose cars were suddenly off the road. Result.

Like i say the advice is easy, write a letter stating you are coming off driving and they have to accept it and the office must have a duty rota that is done each week so he/she can see what duty they are on each day.

As well as working to your time you need to stick in a grievence against the DOM, whenever the DOM has the resource meeting with the union rep he should know what is going to need covered the following week and should inform the staff of what they are required to do (I know that's the theory but it doesn't happen in my office either).

Plus, you can't just come off driving duties, unless you've lost your licence then you seem to have no choice in whether you drive or not.

I have worked in a number of factories doing 12 hour shifts, day shift, back shift, night shift. At least you know exactly when you are going to finish and you are usualy on the same job.You don't get all the sh*t from the managers that you get from the RM management.RM management cause 99% of the stress.
