what exactly is the deal with these as part of our contract ?
Are we supposed to do these in duty time or are we supposed to do them as extra work over our contracted hours ? If I prep d2d into my delivery frame 20% a day and this causes me to go out late on delivery can the manager say I shouldnt be using "work time" to prep d2d items ?
Im a little confused as ive been told different things from manager and union so Id like to know from someone who really knows about this subject as I think it causes a lot of confusion for a lot of people.

a manager said the other day that they are to be done in your own time or why would there be extra payments for it. I had always believed from my union rep that they are to be done in duty time and not afterwards but this manager did have me doubting it. He claimed it was in the door to door agreement and said "you can see it if you want" i said sure ill see it - he never got back to me unsurprisingly.

Also if we deliver them during work hours why will they not let us count them when they are doing the call rates considering that we have to deliver 20% daily.

There isn't any mention of a minimum daily delivery requirement within the D2D agreement. The only stipulation is that the complete delivery should take place no later than the Friday. Saturday delivery is optional at the discretion/permission of the LM/DOM. Twenty percent has become the accepted minimum as it is a good balance number-wise, giving sufficient time to enable prep into the frame with impinging too much on delivery time either. One can only hope that if RM get their way and we have extra D2Ds above 3 as the norm that they ensure they are plastic wrapped otherwise prepping will become a nightmare.

Had the same with our Managers(i use that term loosely)i said to him bring the D2D agreement over and you can show me,he then got very uppy with me,told me that it was a stand alone contract that i had signed up to i begged to differ so i explained that the contract was between Royal Mail and the supplier not the staff and RM,i also explained that if i or any others had signed to this contract that i would be taking RM into court as i like all the other staff would be working for wages below the legal minium as that is also illegal in the UK,for some reason he got really upset started jumping up and down shouting at us,some thing along the lines of i am fed up with you all you just make the job so difficult he then turned and walked away frem us swearing,i take it he was alittle miffed.

Put a complaint in about his abusive language and attitude. He'll get a disciplinary for that. It's happened before.

Oh yes......it is a pain in the The dom says we must do them, they should be treated as 1st class etc etc. Hes not so helpful when it comes to payment for them though...

Good afternoon

Thank you for your email.

It was agreed with the CWU in the 1995 addendum to the national agreement
(and the subsequent joint statement) that Door to Door mail is paid for
separately via unit payment, and is due to be absorbed within normal duty
time in existing deliveries. For this reason the workload associated with
the product is not taken into consideration when planning revisions.

This is the agreement that is currently in force, and it means that Door to
Door is left out of workload, but must be sorted and delivered along with
the other mail during existing duty time with no additional hours.

Delivery is compulsory under the agreement, and the only real difference
with other mail is that it is currently paid for separately.
