However, apparently the CWU merged all factions (Del, Proc & Dist) from the MC together for the first time, against the wishes of the members, which could explain the result.

Unlucky Pickaname Seems you have "Mega Problems" as Linkinpark says perhaps you've got an "out" with this "Lump everyone together" situation.
Never known any office workers to stick up for colleagues who are out in the elements getting, frozen, soaked, sun-burnt etc. Remember RMs motto should be, "I'm alright Jack F**k You!" :
We've got enough problems trying to get fellow posties to stand up for themselves! Much like politicians I believe the CWU Big Wigs are so removed from reality they haven't got a Bloody Clue, all living in their Ivory Towers, no wonder they've removed their e-mail addresses, they don't give a s**t as long as they get your subs!
Good luck lads hope you get the result you want. Get amongst those PTers and sign them up to the Union, they may make a difference and they've got no excuse/plus protection if there is a National Strke.

Its a major problem in the Portsmouth Mail centre.
Processing feel they own the building and deliveries are renting their space.
3 seperate ballot requests should have been met with 3 seperate ballots. Not one all encompassing ballot.
The 3 requests were for seperate issues and the CWU were made aware that Portsmouth delivery office members were not happy about being 'lumped'.
If they cant get this right what hope do we have in a National ballot.
Im afraid for the future.

Yes, but what % of the 168 were from deliveries? It would be a disaster, would it not, if deliveries voted NO. I know for a fact that some individuals did not sit comfortably with the national stance of the wording on the ballot paper and would have changed their vote had the ballot been tied predominantly to the local delivery issues Portsmouth faces.
There is some apprehension in certain quarters to proceed with a reballot.
In my opinion Portsmouth have nothing to lose, so bring it on!
