Our office is soon to be Pegasised and the main problem for me is that I will be required to start 75 minutes later than I currently do. This will lead to me to incuring at least an extra £20/week in childcare costs (9% cut in pay) although my current childminder is reluctant to commit to a later finsih time. It also means I spend 5 hours per week less 1-on-1 time with my son.
I'm aware that I have the right to apply for flexible working and as no re-pick is to be taken in our office it seems that the duties have not been sufficiently changed to force me to adopt new working hours.
I intend to formally and legally apply for flexible working such that my hours will stay the same. I would like a copy of Royal Mail's "Flexibility Policy" to confirm that I fit within the rules and also to include it with my request to enure the managers are informed when they make their decision.
Does anyone know where I can get copy of the "Royal Mail Flexibility Policy" or does anyone have any pointers when applying through such a system?

Re: Royal Mail "Flexible Working Policy"
I don't have any pointers for you, but in my office we have a couple of staff working "Child Friendly" hours, it means they start a little earlier, get on delivery and finish earlier. So there is a precedent, but with RM you never know. Ask your rep if he can find out for you.

Re: Royal Mail "Flexible Working Policy"
RM 'claim' to operate a family friendly policy, to adapt to the needs you require. They harp on about it in the co*uri*r. Somebody somewhere on here or within the CWU will have the text to such an agreement or policy, which RM love to forget about when it suits them.
Wether it can be put into operation, or wether the :cfo & :mfo top down policy of slavery and obedience to corporate planning takes precedence, who knows?
Your mention of 'legal' usually makes RM run scared when they realise there is a greater force than RM management ideology that the managers have no concept of post-lobotomies.
Best of luck with your quest.

Our DOM is already moaning at the number of people seeking to find out more about the Family/Flexible Working Policy before he even has to think about implementing it!

Re: Royal Mail "Flexible Working Policy"
Thanks for that link. I started looking at the governments site but I wanted a specific RM policy to include with my application. Policies are usually drawn up without consideration of the companies plans and because of this it is likely to supersede RM's own Pegasus implementation plans.mal wrote:Spedley, these are the RM forms. You should also check out the website -http://www.direct.gov.uk.Go to the work and families section ,this will give you all your legal rights.
I'll keep looking and post with any updates I get.
