It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: NEW POSTIE
1. RM should have a driver pick you up from the end of your delivery and return you to the office, depending on the distance. If you have no reason to return to the office (special deliveries, recordeds, packets that are undelivered) then you can go straight home, walk, bus etc, again this will depend on distance.paradiseshake wrote:New Postie - 22.5 hours a week........
Got a few questions.......
1. i get dropped off by van at my walk.... how do i get home?
2. According to the pay scale ive started mid table because of my age? does anyone have the age to pay breakdown?
3. Will i get a red polo neck adn a quality royal mail jacket?
4. What do you reckon is the reason there was a job available? Is it likely sumoen has been sacked and im replacement? Or because of strikes ? or is there an intake in the summer. ( i just like to know why im there) i thought it would of been impossible to get a job as a postie tbh
Thanks! im very happy to have this job
2. I think that there is only a different rate of pay for under 18s and if I recall correctly a 12 month probationary period which you get paid less than you will eventually get.
3. You will eventually get the full uniform but it damn well isn't quality
4. Hard to say, probably a combination of all of them.
Getting a job as a postie is easier than it was, keeping it though is a lot harder, it usually turns out to be completely different from what people expect, glad you're happy and hope you stay that way. Good luck and welcome aboard.

If you can ... survive being shoved on a different duty each day by an unsympathetic DOM/Line Manager ... your first winter .. the day-to-day banter .. the suspicions of F/Timers .. you will have earned every penny RM deem thankful to give you!
As to the quality of the uniform, that is open to interpretation
Welcome to the madness they call RM!

Re: NEW POSTIE
Re the uniform, ask your DOM or line manager as they may have some overstock in the stores, i know our office has, it may tide you over until your own stuff arrives.
