Don't give tem ideas
They would realise that if we owed them money too then we would be less likely to go out on strike.

I had an advance on my wages once, when they cocked up, £45 and it was taken out of my following weeks wages.

I wouldn't want a wage advance of RM if I was down to my last penny...the same way they don't want to pay me for any hours I've not worked - I wouldn't want money off them unless i'd earned it!!! Bloody hell they'd have us over a barrell if we owed them money wouldn't they guys and girls.

But as k66yla pointed out: Sometimes they make mistakes with our wages, and they just add it onto the following week's wage. So they consider it an advance on your wages, if they give you any to tide you over. Even though they are in arrears with your wages! Although as far as I know, that's the only circumstances where they'd give you an advance. But I'm not sure.

Years ago when we used to get cash they DID do wage advances as if you were away the money was no good to you if you abroard etc and the cash would come Registered Post first thing Friday morning - nobody in. However, since the advent of money into your bank account (bacs payment) this has now ceased.
