When did you become a postman?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Re: Harrington Jackets
I always wear my Harrington in the summer and as DG says comfortable & practical. I hate the new blue fleeces, they look/feel cheap and nasty.

I totally, why did they get rid of them? (Mmm, perhaps fleeces are a little cheaper?)

Re: Harrington Jackets
And they had the removable fleece waistcoat that zipped inside for the winter. Still got mine, but it's beginning to fall apart. It was a thousand times better than the fleece we get now.

Re: Harrington Jackets
Still wear my Harrington. A guy retired the other month and he dumped his locker contents into a blue runner/ coffin. I scouted through and what did I find still in the plastic bag but a brand new Harrington! Tis been washed and awaiting being worn but will make damned sure that this one is absolutely cream crackered before I throw it away.
The only thing I didn't like about them was if you wore the waistcoat with the jacket you had a job accessing your inside pockets - other than that loved em

Thats because they are cheap and nasty. I have four, and all four have broken zips!I hate the new blue fleeces, they look/feel cheap and nasty.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.

Yep 100% agree with all. Fleeces are so bad - another item that clearly hasnt been tested thoroughly. i still have my harrington but it's not gonna last forever

Re: Harrington Jackets
Going out on delivery these days looking like a feckin "TINK" Harrington jacket full of holes, freyed at the cuffs and round the bottom, trousers look as if I have been living in them for months(maybe they are the new kind that start of blue then through time turn reddish).
Just in keeping with the standard that RM are aspiring to. :cfo :mfo
PS and now my delivery standards are falling in line with my uniform standard (sh!te)

Re: Harrington Jackets
I still have one of those three quarter length thermal coats with removable arms, in fairly good nick.
And I have a few of those old shirts, the ben sherman ones, really thin and comfortable in the summer, although my ale gut is beginning to show when I wear them.
