Paternity Leave ?
My wife is due very soon and I was just wondering what the standard procedure is for paternity leave? I've let my D.O.M know well in advance and he informs me that I have to take one week full paid leave and one week unpaid, if I choose to? Does this sound consistent as I always assumed that the optional second week would be roughly half a weeks wage? Any perspicacious people care to fill me in on the details? Thanks

Re: Paternity Leave ?
I was on paternity leave last year. Your DOM is half right, you get the first week at full pay, the second week is unpaid, BUT only if you choose to take the second week, it is not compulsory.

Re: Paternity Leave ?
Yeah, 1 week full pay and 1 week statutory paternity pay £112-ish although they couldn't be bothered to do the paper work in our office so I got both weeks full pay. You have to take the two weeks together and within 60 days (I think) of the childs birth. You do not have to give any evidence (I was asked for a birth certificate - durh) except a signed statement stating your intentions.
