Managers prepping D2Ds

Post by pickaname »

On my way out today (Friday, 1400) I espied 2 managers throwing off ALL the D2Ds for a walk that a part timer delivers from 900am. The prep is currently lapsed into our IPS time.

Correct me if Im wrong but:

Shouldnt the prep be done by whoever throws the walk off as it should be included in the duty time of that walk?

Shouldnt there be no more than 20% thrown off and delivered per day?

D2Ds should not be delivered on a saturday?

I approached one of the managers and asked what was going on and he said "were helping the bloke out"

Surely this is unfair. No managers ever offer to prep my D2Ds, and even so, if i walked in on a saturday to a frame full of crap id be a bit upset wouldnt you?

managers will continue to do this work because the staff let them, and they let them because they dont want to do it, because they think they should all finish well before thier time because they are a**eholes

Whoever comes in tomorrow to this frame has the right to say NO and just take the mail. If they gets problems from any manager they should immediately seek a union rep. I hope the whole office backs them up if it goes further.

Iv'e had to do d2d's on sats sometimes because d2d's are late. We have also been told to prep them in our own time which I think is rediculous. I feel fulltimers have enough time to do this in their shift but I find it impossible to do partime.

Rep isnt in sat but these thing have a way of getting around quick.
Must say I was shocked when i saw this latest blag as the DOM has just started lapsing walks claiming there isnt enough work, even though we had the cluster dom down on the floor (in sandles!) throwing off duties 'cause were short staffed - even after taking on several summer casuals.

The irony is in october theyre giving out 8 EVRs and making 10 staff part time. Add a pegasus revision and a bungled indoor review to the elixir and a disaster of unimaginable proportions is imminent.

If he was in Sandals. Why didn't anyone tell him to leave the Shop Floor, until he had the correct PPE?
We do that. Among others, we've told senior ROMEC Managers, IB (yes, seriously), and Engineers. So long as you're consistant, and do it in a polite way. There's nothing they can do to stop you removing these irrisponsible people from your Work Area!

If they dont arrive on a Monday but arrive on a Tuesday you get 20% extra payment to deliver them. If the arrive after Tuesday (or after you start delivering) then they should be returned back to the bundling centre with a explanation.

Also if the do arrive tomorrow on your day off the cover guy has to do 25% (or at least in my office they would) leaving you 75% instead of 80%

just want to clear another thing up.

i only work wed-sat
now most of the time my dom wants me to do d2d starting from wednesday and complete by saturday this means i would be doing 25% d2d each day.
many posties in my office complete majority of d2d's mon & tuesday as mail volume is far less(thats what i read)
am i entitiled to more money as you say?

the other thing that gets on my nerve is why for mon & tuesday no d2d's atleast 40% not been cleared and it's left up to me to complete in 4 days inc saturdays :arrrghhh

Get your rep involved. D2D's are a Monday - Friday delivery schedule. As you only work Wed, Thurs, Fri during this time you should only be doing 60% of the items. It is the managers problem getting the other 40% deliveres, as this should be done on the days you are not attending.

steve is spot on mate speak to your rep about this as soon as possible to get this sorted. minumum amount 20% monday to friday is the agreement. you need only do the minimum on these days only, no need for anyone to deliver them on a saturday if they dont wish too.

Have the managers not got enough of thier own work to do,if not i would start making noises about having to many managers in your office thats what we did, bingo managers stopped preping walks, the other thing we found was if we stopped work and started chatting, when managers start doing work that is ours,it worked a treat!managers will take staff of sorting to prep walks so the IPS takes longer with less people which means less time on delivery or O/T if you want it. the new plans are working really well.

In our office I have to deliver on a Saturday as our floaters do not do D2D's.

Unlike others in our office, I will only do 20% D2D's each day so that leaves me with no option than to do 20% on a Saturday.

As for prepping them, forget it.
