Anyone else here in the T.A. and do you have trouble getting time off?.
Both me and the missus are in the T.A. and despite the blurb in the Courier we have both had trouble with time off for training and she was recently told that if she wanted to take the day off to travel to her barracks she may have to pay someone to do her job!!.
This despite the fact that we are entitled to 9 days unpaid leave a year for travelling.

It depends on who you deal with, I didn't have much trouble getting time off and also its also down to how important you are in the food chain of Royal Mail.

A maximum of nine days per year unpaid leave may also be granted to cover travel to and from attendance at the six mandatory weekend training camps. In order to qualify for military leave, the individual must show evidence to their line manager on each occasion that leave is required (e.g. call-up papers). Individuals normally receive about six months notice of their call up and should advise managers as soon as possible. Such notice should under normal circumstances enable offices to plan in release for this service commitment.
