)then the answer is still no sadly. You don't have the legal right to take time off to attend these sort of appointments. Speak to your lino - he/she will have to a total twat to deny you...... 
...... Things do get better when your little one due date is nearer though, including your partner going into labour or any other emergency around pregnancy. I would not condone being 'sick' that day if you are crafty about it. 
You and your partner can each claim up to four weeks' unpaid leave in the year after the birth. In the first five years, you can claim up to 13 weeks in total.

I never had any problems getting time off (usually days in lieu that were owed to me) to accompany my wife to the hospital for all 3 of our kids. If you think it will be a problem you could try swapping your SWW with someone.
