last week or so have been attacked by gulls protecting their young chicks which wander about several gardens on one of my streets,
when it first happened I went to my manager and told him and to be fair for once he actually did something and went out himself to check it out and speak to the householder and the next day he let me know I didnt have to deliver if I felt threatened so since then I have been going along this street looking skywards and thrashing my arms about in the air to repell the air attack...I hope no one has filmed this cos I must look a right numpty and today I met one woman who has taken to walking her dog whilst wearing a crash helmet and an umbrella..lets hope the birds learn to fly soon and piss off out of my life so I was just wondering if anyone else had any similar stories

Did the birds scream in like STUKA'S or is it like a scene from the bird's!. The press will have a field day at this one!. May i suggest that you dress up as a seagull whilst preforming your duties and you may invade the winged devils of the sky!.

Had this problem on my walk this last week. The babies were in an old school chimney. SPCA has removed the babies after complaints from worried parents. But mumsy still had a few swoops at me today. Reckon she will realise theres nothing to protect soon. I hope.

This is a constant problem going back years so there must be a national policy somewhere on it.

Last week, i watched as seagulls kept swooping down on a cat!

Get woken up by the buggers screeching every morning......

And they make a right mess of the refuse bags left out by folks who dont have wheely-bins, though i hear that the local council are gonna issue seagull-proof refuse bags now.

On one rural i do they have a very large black German Shepherd on a chain who does his nut when i am delivering.

One day whilst walking up the road delivering i felt something touch my knee and glanced down and it was the bloody dog still attached to his chain .
I froze and some builders who noticed my predicament took one look and muttered" bloody hell it's that dog and the posties got him" and shot up their ladder .

He was actually a soft bugger ,thank god, and now when i come across him with his chain i just put him back, but the very next day i went into the garden and he did his nut again,i ignored him and i then got chased out of the garden by some bloody geese .

Seagull Manager is a term first dating back to an 1988 Marketing article by Michael Madison, used to describe a management style of interacting with employees only when a problem arises, making hasty decisions about things they have little understanding of, then leaving others to deal with the mess they leave behind. i refused 2 do a whole street over an entire nesting period cause of divebombing seagulls.
the dom at the time wrote to the householders (not delivered by me tho lol) informing them that if the gulls werent dealt with deliveries wood be suspended. they removed the nests and prob was sorted.

At least one of the duties in our DO has been provided with Warning Stickers specifically due to the Seagull problem they've been having. The stickers are therefore obviously available on the intranet together with the Dog Warning ones which are provided inside the walk logs.
