Do the job properly

Post by postghost »

It comes in various forms.......

Starting early/ prepping d2ds @ home/ using car to hold mail/ fearful of claiming ot/ running round delivery etc :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

How is the best way to convey that all of the above is detrimental to our jobs to the individuals concerned.

If anyone can provide info on what legal implications may arise out of any of the above, furthemore any LTB or agreements that highlight why people are crazy to do things that are causing disruption to the job for everyone else, it would be appreciated.

Cheers

You can't convince anyone to 'work to rule' but you can suggest to people that they stop coming in early etc.

Tried it. They dont listen or care.

I remember something on here about a postie whos car got broken into and mail stolen. RM washed their hands pretty quickly if I remember correctly.

If they wont listen then there's nothing you can do about it, just remember that the next time they come moaning to you about having to do extra work then you can just remind them to stop making it easy for RM to pick on them.

I agree with disgrunteled. I would add don't go around your office suggesting other staff should 'work to rule' unless you want to get suspended! Try 'do the job properly' or 'work safely' thats the phrases used by the CWU nationally because 'work to rule' involves an overtime ban and is classed as IA and therefore needs an IA ballot. The union wont say it because they don't want sued, why should you take the risk.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

today is my day off. i just got mail delivered through my door by young postie at 8.00 am. 15 mins before he was supposed to leave office. he wasnt carrying satchel, just mail in hand. so he was breaking every rule in book. not taking breaks, not only using car but leaving mail in car unprotected, and running round like that guy Bolt.these people are a bigger enemy than RM

I hate my office, they do everything the managers want. as you know today we just came back after a 24 hr strike. well i got in at 5-45am and decided to sit down and have a cup of tea with starting time being 6am. but 90 percent of my office were in throwing up their work, and i was told many were in doing this at 5-30am. when will they learn. later on in the morning our union rep gave everyone a leafet stating doing the job right, not coming in early not using their cars and having a meal relief. i toldhim no point in just giving these out should have a meeting monday morning about doing the job right and tell them to. he just smiled and laughed,it really makes me annoyed when i see this happening in our office theres about 3 of us who actually do the job the way it should be done. the rest afraid are just either ignorant or stupiod. when our manager came in this morning and saw all this happening he must have thought what a load of suckers these people are. and ure all right i dont think these people will ever change .
