Just wondered which offices have Walk Sequencing Machines. How do you keep fulltime jobs with these machines as you must lose some prep time. What percentage of mail do they sequence.
How do you prep it and any other information.
Thanks

Re: Walk Sequencing Machines
You lose 3-5 mins prep per walk
The implications for full time jobs are
mind boggling

Re: Walk Sequencing Machines
Implications come through a reduction in the % of mail that is hand sorted as RML will want to use the spare time to make savings and the CWU will want to use it to get a SWW.

Re: Walk Sequencing Machines
Exactly, when the flat sorting machine was installed in the mail centre, the
impact was a reduction of hours in the delivery office,in terms of bodies on
IPS, despite the fact apparently it cannot read every item, they still took out
the man hours as if it could.

Re: Walk Sequencing Machines
Even without Walk Sequencing my D.O is seeing a increase in walksorted mail and a decrease in IPS mail which has seen some spectacular reductions in the time taken to do IPS.

Re: Walk Sequencing Machines
My office is the opposite, though there are less people doing IPS as well. We get on a light day approx 4-6 mech bundles, on a heavy day up to 10-15, but every day, we have tons on IPS, even sky mags weren't walksorted this month. Maybe the M/C bosses were trying a new way of achieving their bonus as their latest fiddle has already been exposed.Big Daz wrote:Even without Walk Sequencing my D.O is seeing a increase in walksorted mail and a decrease in IPS mail which has seen some spectacular reductions in the time taken to do IPS.

Re: Walk Sequencing Machines
According to the propaganda times this month,we're getting them within the year.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We've got walk sequencing here at Dorset MC but it's done with new software on the LSMs
