My office balloting for strike

royal mail have sent me a letter basically telling me not to strike and stating that nothing will change regardless of how many people strike and i will lose wages etc, well i aint even a union member at the moment so why are they telling me this? i cannot vote if i aint a union member can i? also saying if i do not vote i will be classed as a yes vote for the strike, is this also true?

cheers just want to know what they on about lol

This is standard practise from RM . They sent one of these to me but i went on strike anyway and will again because i believe I should have a say in my future. By telling you that if you don't vote at all you are voting "yes" is simply a cynical ruse to get you to actually vote "no". In any vote there is always a number of people who don't vote for whatever reason. Ultimately the proof of the pudding is -if there is a vote to strike - how many people cross the picket line and work. In our office 15 people did not vote but only 2 non-members went in. :evil/mad. Join the union mate - it ain't perfect but we need it :cool

Join up fast, there is a lot of sh*t in the pipeline and some of the things that Royal mail have planned for the future, being in the Union is the best idea. :roll:

RM will class a non vote as a no vote, they always have (only x % of our people voted for a strike).
