very minor dog bite : advice?
I was bitten today by a small domestic dog. I will report it on Monday but the wound is very minor; do I still need an injection?

It depends on when the last time you had a tetanus shot, if it was within a year you should be OK, any longer that and you'll need a new one

Better to be safe than sorry, go to hospital and do it by the book.
Wouldnt put it past a line manager to say it's your fault you didnt get checked out if it does go bad.

Ok thanks for the replies. Do I need to go to the emergency room today or can I leave it till Monday? Or do I need to book an appointment?

I'd leave it until Monday, a few extra hours wont make much of a difference to someone who is healthy but get it sorted on Monday.junkmale wrote:Ok thanks for the replies. Do I need to go to the emergency room today or can I leave it till Monday? Or do I need to book an appointment?

I would also report the incident to the local police, I have now done this on three occasions, two owners had a visit from the local police and were told to keep their animal under control and a third was arrested and had to go to court and explain himself, only resulted in him having to pay £60 costs.

a while since iv been unit rep but i remember cases where members had been biten by dogs and they were given a form to fill out from the union. they then got few hundred pounds paid to them. dont know if this practice still continues yet.
