MANAGER SHREDS POSTMEN DOCUMENTS
Yesterday, in my DO, a line manager shredded copies of documents which contained details of insurance, MOT and driver's licences (private cars on delivery). After a democratic decision to not use private cars on delivery, we were served with the ultimatum "if you do not use your car today you would be prohibited from using it in the future". I think this stinks. Is it not illegal to shred official documents? Perhaps, burning of books is next.

Why did you or your fellow workers let him keep them he can ask too see them not keep them!. If he has damaged any property your documents are your property he has committed a criminal offence also he has shown himself not a fit and proper person to be a manager i would take out a grievance against him!. And don't forget to get the police involved in the criminal damage case.the undertaker wrote:Yesterday, in my DO, a line manager shredded copies of documents which contained details of insurance, MOT and driver's licences (private cars on delivery). Sorry this may not be the answer you are looking for but, no its not illegal to shred any document as long as there is a good reason to do so. There are exceptions but most of these relate to legal and accounting processes.the undertaker wrote:Yesterday, in my DO, a line manager shredded copies of documents which contained details of insurance, MOT and driver's licences (private cars on delivery). One of my many jobs in the Forces was to destroy classified documents.

Re: MANAGER SHREDS POSTMEN DOCUMENTS
Perhaps the original poster can clarify if the line manager actually shredded the personal property which belonged to members of staff from the DO (i.e. their individual driving licences) or was it a case of bits and pieces of RM paperwork that referred to insurance, MOT, excetera.
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

What does 'stink' is the fact cars are being used on delivery in the first place.the undertaker wrote: I think this stinks. Is it not illegal to shred official documents? Perhaps, burning of books is next.

Re: MANAGER SHREDS POSTMEN DOCUMENTS
What was the point of him shredding these copies of documents, when the same people who refused to use their cars on the Monday were crawling back into them by the Wednesday, What is the frigging point of trying too "do the job safely" when you work along side people like this.the undertaker wrote:Yesterday, in my DO, a line manager shredded copies of documents which contained details of insurance, MOT and driver's licences (private cars on delivery).
