hello.just wondered if you keep your seniority if you leave the business and decide to re-join in the future.we had someone leave a few years ago and return about a year later.they have kept their seniority for holiday signings and the rumour is they have kept their seniority if a new duty was to be advertised.thanks

i think it depends on how long you've been away. we had a guy who left for 18 months and when he came back he was at the bottom of the seniority list. another guy who left for 10 months came back and kept all his seniority rights.

I was under the impression that if you leave and have no plans to come back then you lose your seniority. But some staff take breaks away( cant remember what it is called but it can be up to a year) from work and return and keep their seniority.

Its called a sabatical, and you get 1 year .....

been told after 2 years service you can take a career break of up to 2 years and come back the same position but you must do a least 2 weeks work a year..

i left for just under a year then rejoined at a different delivery office............lost senioity
did 14 1/2 years been back 6+ years they wont count it for long service award either

If you leave RM completely (ie not on a Career break/sabbatical) and later rejoin
you do not keep your former seniority, but start again (except in 'exceptional
circumstances agreed locally).
Former service does count towards Annual Leave entitlement though - Way Forward
Agreement.
