In line with the conference motions we should have more ballots in place by July 2nd with action plans for gate meetings in all other places.

So far the only offices either striking or who have request ballots are :

Yes Lovejoy there are , and to be fair to Terry Pullinger he has called it on with RDCs and Network. With regards to Mail Centres its a trickle rather then a flood at this moment and i think we both know why !!

I think the comms pack (part of the conference motion mentioned) is vital. Once this is sent to every unit rep in the UK the key messages will be out there and all local reps will be armed and able to push the Unions arguement. This will also mean no branch will be able to shy away from this debate.

The campaign pack is being worked up and will help. But why is it yourself , ourselives and lots of others have delivered and will contiue to delivery the members without the campaign pack as it is obvious what we are fighting for. Clearly the message is quite clear either you want to fight for a future or you dont.

We both know where we stand and we have chosen to fight.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but where I am, there is so much apathy, that nothing seems to be happening. There are a lot of people "talking the talk". But we couldn't even get a meeting arranged, because there weren't enough people willing to give up their free time, to turn up.

There was a Drivers meeting recently, about some local issues, which was well attended. But despite a lot of us asking for a meeting for Indoor staff. When it came down to it: Most of the people who were asking for the meeting, said that they wouldn't actually be going themselves! So it was never arranged.

At the last one we had, there were only 17 people there out of over 300 Staff. And to think: Just a few years ago, we were such a formidable Office. I dispair of them, I really do!

I hope those branch officers who appear to be dragging their feet over this are not labouring under the mistaken impression that they can leave others do the hard graft and that they can sit it out in peace and idle tranquility. They will be in for a big shock if they find themselves back on delivery in a years time, and most likely out on their ear shortly after.
Think we all know the real work starts long before any ballot and those officials who fail to do the groundwork will inevitably produce a self fulfilling prophecy with a poor ballot response.Zero comms. from my branch to date.
