Can someone out there give me the correct figures for this please because in my office the management are saying 25 letters a minute minimum is the going rate..Can anyone tell me what is the correct procedure with this is...blank frame and so on cheers.

The only national agreement we have on prep tests was the Indivudal perormance Standards agreement which only talks about prep rates over 1 miniute and not over a sustained period. Royal Mail may be quoting the indoor workload Tool which is based on 100BSi but this an unagreed tool and the standards are based on when we had two deliveries.

I was told it 15 letters a min, easy said than done, when you are on different walks every week

Got prep tested when I had my d2d in and most of my frame is double slots. Told the prep rate over three minutes was 72 (av. 24/min), then told I'd failed as I had done 23/min) what a bawbag.

You should find the .. Individual Performance Standard Agreement .. at the Download section of the Union Room. If i remember rightly there are a number of sections too it, so you will need to find the relevant section in respect of prep testing.

1 minute test on blank fitting.
25 p'm on RM2000.
34 p'm on 48 box.
28 p'm on flat frames (cant mind name!!)
18 on Drop Bag Fittings.

Anything else is unagreed - if your manager does what mine frequently does, count mail, then tell him it's unagreed.
ie If you have 800 letters and take one hour to box it in, he'll say your sorting at 13 p'm -not acceptable.
Tell him where to go.
Rates above 1 minute tests only ones agreed.

There is not an agreed rate for prep testing,the only thing we do have is the proformance standards which are to do with IPS,this is the new thing with managers at the present moment,the proformance standards you were or should have been tested on some time ago and the manager could only use the figure to see if you could put so many items in the frame in a given time,the manager could not test to see if the items were correct because that is not what it was about there is a seperate check in place for that it's called a P40 check.The management seem to be using this as a tactic to justify thier mess of a revision to have some sort of evidence to say that you are not pulling your weight or that you are doing this on purpose to be obstructive to cause problems with revisions(or incompertance)The thing is if you are not pulling your weight then there is a procedure in place for a manager to use this includes talking to the individual about his/her proformance,checking to see if a member of staff has a problem,re-training,taking a member of staff in and having a two way chat etc,this is already in place it is down to a manager to do his-her job,if they are hasseling you or anyone else then you should remind them they have a procedure in place to help staff achieve the standard but dont let them bully or harrasse you.
