Saturday lapsing-advice please

Post by RedRich »

we have been told that we will be expected to lapse tomorrow ( Saturday ) so given the time do we have to comply or can we refuse? Surely this breaks some existing agreement regarding no Saturday lapsing and a significantly shorter working Saturday?

The 3.5 hour delivery span is still a National Agreement - therefore any time taken to take out additional duties comes out of your 3.5 hour delivery. 20 mins on a walk? This then leaves you 3.10 to complete your own delivery.

Your DOM may say that this is now poo poo thanks to the Pay & Mod Agreement but he/she is wrong.

All town walks should be no longer than 3.5 hours unless your office went against the CWU advice of no savings to be agreed.
If you have signed a savings agreement then they can make you work until your time. If your office is still 3.5 hour town deliveries then that is the max and has to include any lapsing within that 3.5 hours.
AFAIK there is no mon-fri only for lapsing. If lapsing can be achieved within your time on a saturday then they will do it.
Just about every other posting these days say DO THE JOB PROPERLY. If all offices did then lapsing would be a rare thing and not the common practise.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

Our office is 4.5hrs delivery which was voted for on the advice of our CWU rep. I voted against but the fact four full time positions were created swayed the vote.

Anyone thinking of going to 4.5hrs should think seriously about it because at the end of each day we are F*cked.
